The Civitan Club of Salisbury is seeking nominations for the Civitan Hero Award. It is presented annually to recognize and honor those individuals whose actions might otherwise go unrecognized.

Qualifications for the award are these: a resident of Rowan County whose recent actions were extraordinary, spontaneous and motivated by the needs of others and whose heroism might go unrecognized on the job or in the community. If the nominee is a police officer, firefighter or is in another occupation where risk is likely, the individual will have performed above and beyond normal expectations.

To submit a nomination for the award, write a letters about the individual and his or her deeds, but do not include the person’s name in the letter. Attach a cover letter which includes the nominee’s name, your name, your address and phone number.

Nominations must be received by Aug. 20. You may give your letter to a Salisbury Civitan member or mail it to Hero Awards, Civitan Club of Salisbury, P.O. BOX 171, Salisbury, NC 28145. The award will be presented in early September.
