Elon University has released its spring semester President’s List and Dean’s List honorees, as well as students who graduated in late May as members of the Class of 2014.
The President’s List is composed of students with no grade below an A-minus in a minimum of 12 semester hours. The Dean’s List is composed of students with no grade below a B-minus and a grade point average of at least 3.50 in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
More than 1,200 students received degrees in a May 24 ceremony featuring an address from sports commentator and former professional tennis star Mary Carillo.

PEMBROKE — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced its chancellor’s list for the spring semester 2014.
Devon Alexandra Mauldin of Kannapolis was named to the chancellor’s list.
Students are eligible for the chancellor’s list if they achieve a minimum semester quality point average of 3.7 while passing at least 12 semester hours of course work. None of the 12 hours may be pass/fail.
Tracy Wharton of Salisbury was among a record number of graduates — 3,478 — presented with diplomas at the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s 2017 commencement exercises May 17 at the Tsongas Center at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Wharton received a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the Graduate School of Education.
Brian Knoske of Salisbury is one of more than 750 graduates who received a diploma at Harding University’s commencement exercises May 10.
Knoske received a doctor of pharmacy degree.
For a second year, the Hairston Funeral Home, Inc., of Salisbury, has awarded six $500 scholarships to area graduating high school and early college students in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. On June 15, 650 rising high school juniors and seniors from traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools and homeschools in nearly every county in the state began a one-of-a-kind educational journey at the 2014 North Carolina Governor’s School. The five-and-a-half week summer residential program provides intellectually gifted high school students the opportunity to explore new ideas and concepts in their chosen discipline as well as take unique, integrative courses focusing on contemporary ways of thinking and the links between theory and practice.
