More Legion rainouts

Rowan County’s home game with Mocksville was washed out on Wednesday.
Southern Rowan’s home game with Kannapolis, a divisional contest, also was washed out.
Southern Rowan and Kannapolis plan to make up Tuesday’s divisional rainout with a game at 2 p.m. on June 22.
The makeup date for Wednesday’s rainout will be June 27 at South Rowan High at a time TBA.
Carson’s Michael Morrison went 7-for-13 for the Charlotte MegaStars at UNC Greensboro with four extra-base hits. The MegaStars play at Appalachian State this weekend.
West Rowan Falcon Basketball Camp for boys and girls is set for July 14-16.
Camp is from 9-1 daily for players who will be in grades 2-9. The cost is $50.

The West Rowan girls basketball team is hosting a camp July 14-17 at West Rowan Middle from 4-7 p.m.
All rising 6th-9th graders are welcome.

Wonders softball camp is for girls who will be in grades 5-9.
The camp is designed to help each young lady improve her softball skills in all areas including fielding, throwing, hitting and running.
The camp is July 7-10 from 9-1 daily.

Participants are responsible for bringing all softball gear (bats/gloves) and should bring cleats and tennis shoes. Girls are encouraged to wear softball pants.
Water will be provided. Girls may choose to bring a light snack and/or beverage of their choice.

The Kannapolis Intimidators were rained out on Wednesday and the game will not be made up as it was the last scheduled meeting between Kannapolis and Savannah.
Coming off his career best finish at Pocono Raceway, Justin Allison is ready to make his Michigan International Speedway debut, driving the same No. 88 HaVACo Ford Fusion he topped the speed charts with at Pocono.
On his journey to carry on the family legacy, Justin Allison has earned a top-10 finish at Toledo Speedway and a top-5 finish at Pocono Raceway.
Allison topped the leader board during Pocono testing, qualified for the Pocono ARCA 200 in 3rd and led a few laps throughout the race. The No. 88 HaVACo Ford Fusion will make its 5th debut of the 2014 season.
Allison will pilot the No. 88 HaVACo Ford Fusion.
Blake Houston (South, Rowan, Catawba) had nine steals in his first eight Coastal Plain League games.
Houston is batting .258 for the Gastonia Grizzlies.
• Brian Bauk (Salisbury, App. State) is off to a good start with the Brockton Rox in the Futures League.
Bauk is 4-for-11 with two RBIs.
• After a strong freshman season, Eric Tyler (South Rowan, East Carolina) is catching for the Lake Norman Copperheads in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League this summer. Tyler is 3-for-14 so far.
Davie County’s legend JC Hendrix was named to All-Decade team for the 1990s for the Big South Conference.
Hendrix was a two-time all-conference player and a league player of the year.
In the eGolf Tour’s Forest Oaks Classic, Frank Adams III shot an opening-round 69 and Will Collins shot 71.
Johnny Kyger shot 75.
Adams is 3-under and is two shots off the pace.
• In the North Carolina Open at the Club at Irish Creek, Nathan Stamey holds a two-shot lead after two rounds at 9-under.
Rick Lewallen is at 70-70 — 140 an is 2-under.
Davis Richards is at 74-70 — 144 and is 2-over.
Troy Beaver has shot 72-72 — 144.
* The Rowan Masters is set for Warrior on June 27-29.
Qualifying is June 21.
The qualifying round is 18 holes of stroke play. The low 31 scorers will join defending champion Phil Miller in a match-play tournament.
All entrants must have amateur status. The cost is $60 for non-members and $30 for members. Entry fee includes green fee, cart and range balls for the qualifying round. The champion receives a trophy, a one-year bronze membership and a $250 gift certificate.
South Rowan baseball camp is June 16-19 from 9-1 daily. The camp is for rising first-eighth-graders. The cost is $80. Call coach Thad Chrismon at 704-640-8704 to pre-register.

West Rowan Falcon football camp will be directed by Scott Young on June 16-18 from 9 until noon daily.
The cost is $45.

Donte Minter will hold his 2nd annual pro skill development basketball camp this year at Hall Gym on July 14-17. Minter starred at West Rowan and played at Virginia, App. State and professionally in Europe.
