CLEVELAND — The Family and Friends service at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church is at at 6 p.m. this evening.
The Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, will be the guest speaker and The Heavenly Voices of Charlotte will be in concert. Host pastor is the Rev. Dr. Bertha Pittman.
The Community Youth Summit for middle school students in grades 6-8 will be in full swing today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 719 South Caldwell St.
The event is being sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Gethsemane.
Captive Free, a relational music ministry team sponsored by Youth Encounter, will be at Christiana Lutheran Church on Sunday at 9:25 a.m.
They will have Sunday school for middle, high and college age youth. At 10:30 a.m. they will be help out with worship. They will present Christian music, games, skits and personal sharing.
Youth Encounter is a Christian non-profit organization that partners with Christian communities to strengthen their youth ministry.
Christiana is located at 6190 US Highway 52. Worship will be outside, weather permitting. Folks are asked to dress casually and bring a chair.
Dunn’s Mountain Baptist Church of Salisbury will be holding Praise in the Park on Sunday at Dan Nicholas Park.
A full worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. under the shelter by the tennis courts. Following the service will be free lunch for everyone.
At 2 p.m. there will be a special presentation from Buck, a strongman who will perform feats of strength.

Ebenezer Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Old Concord and Old Beatty Ford Roads, will celebrate homecoming on Sunday. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by one traditional service at 10:30 a.m.
The service, led by interim pastor Rev. Bob Young, will include Holy Communion. Guests are invited to bring a covered dish to the luncheon in the fellowship hall following the service. Former members, friends and families are welcome.

ROCKWELL — St. Matthew’s Baptist Church will have its annual Men’s Day on Sunday.
The Rev. John Geter, host pastor, will deliver the 11 a.m. message and guest speaker at the 3 p.m. service will be the Rev. Perry Dye, pastor of Henderson Grove Baptist Church of Salisbury
At the 11 a.m. sanctuary service on Sunday, First Presbyterian Church will hold a Baccalaureate worship service and honor the 2014 high school and college graduates.
At 10 a.m., Dr. Jim Dunkin will offer a class called “Presbyterian 101,” part one of a two-part series for those wanting to know more about the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) and the ministries of First Presbyterian Church. Part two will be held on Sunday, June 8, at 10 a.m.
EAST SPENCER — Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church will hold their annual Twelve Tribes Rally on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Patrick Tate is the host pastor. Southern City is located at 940 S Long St.
The annual Men’s Day will be observed Sunday June 1 at 3 p.m. at Fairveiw Heights Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Keith Curry of Oak Grove Baptist Church of China Grove.

LANDIS — The Salisbury District Gospel Choir will present its first concert by rendering a message in song on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church. The choir is made up of members and pastors from the 17 churches that comprise the Salisbury District.
The choir is directed by the Rev. Carolyn D. Bratton and Kevin Dewberry is musician. The Rev. Herbert R. Warren Jr. is presiding elder.
MT. ULLA — Shady Grove Baptist Church is hosting a benefit program to fund the C.A.R.E. (Children Are Reason Enough) camp on Sunday at 4 p.m.
C.A.R.E. hosts an annual free summer camp for children from low income housing. The group’s mission is to fill a need in the community for families that need a place to send their children during the summer break, a place that they can feel they belong and feel safe. In order to continue the camp this summer Shady Grove will need to raise $6,000.

LANDIS — Carson High School will hold their Baccalaureate service Sunday at 4 p.m. at First Reformed Church, 210 N. Central Ave.
Speakers include members of the Class of 2014 and the Rev. David P. Franks, with music by the Carson High School seniors and the First Reformed Church Praise team, under the direction of pastor Jeff Chewning.
Seniors are asked to gather in the fellowship hall at 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
Rev. Carolyn D. Bratton, pastor of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 500 Partee St. will be honored with three nights of appreciation services, June 3 through 5, at 7 p.m. Guest preachers for the week with be as follows:

KANNAPOLIS — On June 7 there will be a fund raiser at God’s Church of Faith from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. where there will be breakfast, lunch and a silent auction. The bidding will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day. The church is at 811 Elm St.
Damascus Emmanuel Ministries hosts the Mac-Attack Wagon at 502 E. Fisher St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 6-7.

KANNAPOLIS — Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will feature Christian movies at 6 p.m. on the first Saturday of each summer month. These movies will be free along with popcorn and coke. The movie for June 7 will be “Fireproof,” Aug. 2 will be “Flywheel” and Sept 6 will be “Ring the Bell.”
