Looks like we’ll have a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day this week, with Thursday being the stormiest day.
The National Weather Service says the storms will develop over the mountains, then drift southeast into the Piedmont. As always, some of these storms could become severe, with cloud-to-ground lightning, torrential downpours, hail and localized damaging wind gusts.
The storms will drift in this afternoon, leaving us with a sunny and hot day, with a high of 86. The chance of rain is 30 percent. Tonight, showers and storms may continue, leading to patchy fog in the early morning hours. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with a low near 64.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 87, with just a 20 percent chance of showers and storms, again lingering into the night, with a low around 64.
The chance of rain and storms increases Thursday to 50 percent, with a high near 83 and a low of 63.
Friday, we’re back to afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but it will be partly sunny with a high of 82. The chance of rain Friday and Friday night is 30 percent.
The skies clear and the threat for storms evaporates for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, when skies will be mostly sunny. Saturday’s high will be near 82, with a low around 60; Sunday should be 81, with a low of 60; and Monday will be sunny again and near 83 degrees.
