Two injured when truck hits tree at Sherrills Ford, Hurley School roads intersection

Two people were injured Friday night when their truck hit a tree in a violent crash at the intersection of Sherrills Ford and Hurley School roads.
Two helicopters were called in to transport those injured in the crash, but one helicopter was later canceled when the patient was taken directly to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast.
The first call on the accident came in at 10:48 p.m. with reports of one person trapped in the vehicle. Rescue crews were able to free the first victim at 11:09 p.m.
That person was taken to meet the helicopter at the Salisbury Community Park landing zone, where the helicopter was on the ground by 11:15. It took off by 11:30 to carry the patient to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
