Rowan weather: Weekend looks sunny

Don’t forget that 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Any storm may contain gusty winds and cloud-to-ground lightning. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny and near 88. Winds will blow from the west with gusts as high as 20 mph.
The air quality should be good, but it is right at the edge of moderate, according to the N.C. Division of Air Quality.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low near 59.
Look for mostly sunny skies Friday and a high of 83, with a low near 51. Air quality will be in the moderate zone, with ozone being the main factor.
For your long weekend, if you’re lucky enough to have one, you can expect sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to the upper 80s. And the pollen count will be moderate, with pine, oak and pecan prevalent.
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 78; at night, expect a low around 53, with good air quality. Sunday will be mostly sunny and 82, with a low of 57.
On Monday, Memorial Day, it will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high of 86 and a low around 61. A great day for a dip in the pool or a run through sprinklers, but maybe a little toasty over the grill.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny again, with a high near 89. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in Tuesday night, with a low of 64.
That 30 percent chance of rain continues into Wednesday, and it will be hot again, with a high near 88 under partly sunny skies.
