Carson point guard Tre Williams, a three-time all-county player, has committed to Davidson County Community College’s basketball program.
Williams is one of the top senior athletes in Rowan. He was an all-county football player as well as a state-level track and field competitor in the throws.
Williams averaged 16.7 points per game as a Carson senior. A story is upcoming.
South Rowan’s Brooke Helms signed with Laurel University in High Point on Tuesday.
• Admission to tonight’s Salisbury-Forbush game is $6. Only state level passes will be honored for this game.

Prep baseball
East Davidson kept rolling in the 2A baseball playoffs with a 10-3 win against Gastonia Hunter Huss on Tuesday.
Nick Williams (8-1) was the winning pitcher.
Kelvin Pena and Nathan Campbell had three hits each for the Golden Eagles (18-6).
In American Legion games on Tuesday, High Point beat Winston-Salem 5-4; Davidson County topped Randolph County 7-6, and Stanly rolled 12-2 against Mocksville.
• South Rowan Legion will open at West Forsyth on Friday.
Rowan County Legion will be home Friday against Mooresville Post 537.
Kannapolis plays tonight at Mooresville 537 at Mooresville High at 7.
Catawba senior outfielder Keaton Hawks and freshman pitcher Matt Farmakis were named to the Southeast Region all-tournament team. The duo helped Catawba get within one game of playing for a second regional title.
Hawks hit .368 for the tournament, including three hits in each of the last two games. The senior was 8-for-17 for the four games with a double. He drove in two and scored twice, including once on a straight steal of home.
Farmakis made just one appearance for Catawba, but made an impact with a six-hit shutout of Georgia College in an elimination game. Farmakis walked one a struck out six in the win. He allowed only two runners to reach second base and none over the last six innings.
Forty-six GARS members played in their own foursomes at Corbin Hills, while the Rowan Senior Games were played at Crescent.
Low ‘A’ Flight GARS player was David Scearce with a net of 60.70. Low for ‘B’ Flight was Rev. Jim Harris with a net of 67.70. Low ‘C’ Flight player with a net of 69.70 was Buddy Lowman. Low ‘D’ Flight player with a net of 63.60 was Tom Longo.
The Hickory Crawdads pounded out 15 hits on their way to a 10-3 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Kannapolis starter Tyler Barnette (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Kannapolis (21-23) dropped a series to the Crawdads for the first time this season.
The annual Salisbury Rotary Tennis Tournament will be held May 30-June 1 at City Park. There are gender divisions and age divisions in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Sunday, May 25 is the entry deadline.

West Rowan Falcon Boys Basketball Camp will held from July 14-16.
The camp is from 9-1 daily and is for rising 2nd through 9th graders. The cost is $50.
