Salisbury Police Chief Rory Collins said a grenade found earlier today at a local business was live.
The Cabarrus County bomb squad removed the grenade and placed it in a container. The squad will take the grende to a range and destroy it.
Authorities evacuated buildings on North Lee Street after an employee at Beggars Bazaar found the grenade, with the pin still in it, while sifting through a box.
Local emergency officials called in the Cabarrus County bomb squad to assist.
