Messy Art 1 — July 7-11. Come dressed to get messy and creative. Students will explore various hands-on artistic media, including paint, paper-craft, clay and more. Three sessions are offered. Each is unique. Instructor: Debbie Hoffman.
Imagine That! — July 14-18. Activities and adventures in Surrealism. Use imagination to ride on a magic carpet or walk a dog on the moon. Create artwork that seems to melt before your eyes or where strange creatures fly off the page. Learn about Surrealist artists such as Salvador Dali and more. Instructor: Debbie Hoffman.

BIG Art – Aug. 4-8. Create BIG art using all kinds of media. Make extra large masterpieces that require movement to create. Instructor: Debbie Hoffman.
Fun with Sculpture (new) — July 7-11, 9 a.m. to noon. Join professional artist and sculptor Stephen Hayes in this exploration of 3-D sculpture techniques. Make a sculpture a day, using an array of techniques and materials. Come prepared to use your imagination.
Mask Mania: Animals (new) — July 7-11, 1 to 4 p.m. Create a series of wearable animal masks using a variety of colorful mixed media techniques. Some masks will have moveable parts, some will be miniature and some will be larger than life-size. Learn about a different mask-making tradition each day. Instructor: Ingrid Erickson.
Illustrations Alive (new) — July 14-18, 9 a.m. to noon. Have you ever wondered what a Truffula tree looks like? Or what kind of Wild Thing you can make in clay? Bring literature’s characters to life in this class for beginning and returning clay students. Many hand-building techniques will be taught to create Dr. Seuss-style birdhouses, cartoon character cookie jars and more. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Brenda Gariepy.
Royal Egypt (new) — July 14-18, 1 to 4 p.m. Make wearable jewelry, costumes, a period self portrait, and your own 3-D pharaoh’s throne in this mixed media class. Help to build a large scale pyramid and create a relief sculpture. Instructor: Ingrid Erickson.
More Mask Mania: Theater Masks (new) — July 21-25, 1 to 4 p.m. Come prepared to try your hand at a variety of global theater mask traditions using mixed media techniques, including metal, paper, fabric and wood. Learn about a different mask making tradition each day as we tour Asia, Europe and North America using the instructor’s global mask collection. Each student will create a variety of unique wearable masks. Instructor: Ingrid Erickson.
Adventures in Painting (new) — July 28-Aug. 1, 9 a.m. to noon. Imagine painting rainbow horses, rainbow houses and people. Learn about the color wheel, color mixing and a variety of painting media and techniques. Instructor: Francine Kola-Bankole.

Clay Safari (new) — Aug. 4-8, 1 to 4 p.m. We will look at wildlife found in Africa. Create a savannah full of creatures in clay using a variety of hand-building techniques. Instructor Peter Goff has been on several African safaris and will share his photographs and sculpture for reference. Specialty class pricing.
Hand & Wheel Pottery I — July 7-11, 9 a.m. to noon. Make vases, containers and cups in this exciting class. Learn how to work “tall” on the potter’s wheel, explore hand-building techniques and surface design. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Brent Smith
Explorations in Collage (new) — July 7-11, 1 to 4 p.m. Just how did Matisse and Picasso make their art? Ever wondered why it just looks like fun and almost too easy? Bring your imagination, a magazine and we will supply the scissors, cardboard and glue. Instructor: Francine Kola-Bankole.
Musical Clay (new) — July 14-18, 1 to 4 p.m. Using music as inspiration, learn how to create a drum, rattles, bells, wind chimes and ocarinas (Native American clay whistles). A variety of wheel and hand building techniques will be used to make musical creations. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Brenda Gariepy.
Drawing in 3-D — July 21-25, 9 a.m. to noon. Create realistic drawings by discovering the basic techniques used by professional artists—composition, design and perspective. Learn methods to create value and give dimensional quality to your drawings. Explore a variety of media, including pencil, charcoal and conte crayon, drawing from model subjects while learning to draw what you see. Instructor: Ray Moose.
Clay & Nature (new) — July 21-25, 9 a.m. to noon. Use nature as inspiration to create usable ceramics for outdoor living spaces. Beginning and returning clay students will learn hand building and wheel techniques to create items such as bird baths, salad bowls and chicken whimsies. Also learn how to create flower pots for herbs and potted plants. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Brenda Gariepy.

Fantasy Island in Pastels (new) — July 28-Aug. 1, 1 to 4 p.m. Learn from a professional pastel artist how to create luminous pastel paintings, use shadows and lines to bring artwork into focus, and experiment with blending of colors and values to produce strong, vibrant artwork. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Walter Stanford.
Introduction to Fiber Arts (new) — Aug. 4-8, 9 a.m. to noon. “Paint” with yarns. Spin yarn and make woven baskets, small rugs or wall hangings, felted bowls and bookmarks to take home. The entire class will bring a tapestry to life which will be exhibited locally. Instructor: Liese Sadler.
Batik Week (new) — Aug. 4-8, 1 to 4 p.m. An introduction to batik, wax resist, weaving and dyes using fabric and paper. Students will create their own large scale batik masterpieces suitable for framing, learn how to weave on a hula hoop, and experiment with hand dye techniques for fabric and paper. Plein Air Painting — July 14-18, 9 a.m. to noon. Following in the traditions of the Impressionists, we will paint “on location” and study the effects of color, value, composition and natural lighting. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Phyllis Steimel.
Claymation I — July 14-18, 1 to 4 p.m. Claymation is an animation technique that uses clay characters to tell stories. Young animators will learn how to build original clay characters, develop storyboards and design sets. The characters and stories are brought to life as the budding animators use stop-motion software and video technology to shoot their movies. Each animator receives an edited DVD with music and sound effects after the session. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Jackie Black.
Fundamentals of Drawing — July 21-25, 9 a.m. to noon. For students who love to draw. Learn the tricks and secrets that professional artists use to create masterpieces. Working indoors and outside, students will use a variety of media, including pencil, charcoal, conte crayons and more. Instructor: Ray Moose.

Cartooning in Pastels (new) — Aug. 4-8, 1 to 4 p.m. This class will explore the humorous and exaggerated world of cartooning in pastels. Students will be able to work with a professional pastel artist. The course is appropriate for beginning or returning pastel artists. Students will learn about color theory, how to blend and layer in pastels and begin to develop a personal cartooning style. Specialty class pricing. Instructor: Walter Stanford
