On behalf of the Rowan/Kannapolis Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to you for your support in our very successful 2013-2014 initiative to educate our youth about the dangers of underage drinking.
In early May, Gov. Pat McCrory will officially launch the statewide initiative to reduce underage drinking across North Carolina. Our local system can be proud of the fact that this has been an integral part of our attention and focus for 10 years — a decade of challenging our youth to abstain from underage alcohol and drug use.
The 2013-2014 school year has been perhaps our most successful in that we have carried our message to approximately 3,000 middle-school students, and over 4,000 high school students in our area.
Our guest speakers have done an outstanding job of reaching our students based on the feedback that we are receiving from school administrators, community and business leaders and the students themselves.
Thank you for being a part of our team! With your help we can carry this message into the future.
Our team this year consisted of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury Police Department, Rowan/Kannapolis ABC and “Game Plan for Life” coordinators Derrick Crawford and Renaldo Wynn. We all wish to say thank you to those who supported our efforts.
A special thank you to Dr. Eisa Cox for coordinating all of our programs and her support as well as the school administrators. And remember “Preparation for the game of life, does not require the practice of underage drinking.”
