The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Women donated $2,000 and the congregation (and others) raised another $2,000 — a total of $4,000 — to sponsor a Bone Marrow Clinic today at the church through Be-The-Match. The clinic is in honor of Chloe Monroe, who is now in the process of receiving her own transplant. None of the $4,000 went to Monroe’s family, as indicated in a story about Steve Holland in Thursday’s Post. The Health Cabinet at St. Paul’s organized the drive to raise money for the clinic, according to Alice Davis, chairperson.
A Moogfest spokeswoman said Gov. Pat McCrory would not attend the Asheville event due to a scheduling conflict. The Associated Press reported erroneously that McCrory’s office had said a scheduling conflict would prevent him from attending.
