The South Rowan FFA Chapter participated in the N.C. FFA Agricultural Sales Career Development Event on March 12 at N.C. State University.
Team members Alicia Barlow, MacKenzie Catanese, Abigail Raffaldt and Haley Shore placed first in the state in this contest. The team will now go on to compete at the national level during the National FFA Convention to be held in Louisville, Ky., in October.
During the contest, FFA members participated in an objective test and completed a practicum demonstrating their customer relations skills. Members also conducted a sales presentation before a panel of judges.
“The FFA members competing in the event learn valuable interpersonal skills,” says Jason Davis, state FFA coordinator for North Carolina.
This event is one of 43 different career development events offered to North Carolina FFA members on the state level. The North Carolina Grange sponsors this event.
The North Carolina FFA Association is a youth organization of 250 local chapters with 20,013 student members preparing for leadership and agricultural careers. FFA develops their potential for leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
