North tops Dragons

North Rowan’s baseball team won 3-2 against West Davidson on Friday in a CCC game played in Spencer.
Noah Gonzalez and Henderson Lentz combined on a five-hitter for North (5-6, 3-1 CCC).
Gonzalez got the win. Lentz relieved in the sixth and earned a save.
West Davidson lefty Justin Freeman held North Rowan to five hits, and the Green Dragons (6-6, 3-1) took a 2-0 lead in the third on two walks, an error and a single.
North scored two to tie when Brandon White scored on a wild pitch and Chance Mazza scored on Jake Pritchard’s groundout.
Javin Goodine singled, moved to second on Henderson Lentz’s sacrifice and scored on a throwing error for the decisive run in the fourth.
• East Davidson rolled 12-1 against Thomasville in CCC play on Friday.
Tyler Rhodes held Thomasville to two hits and struck out seven for the first-place Golden Eagles (8-4, 4-0) in the five-inning game.
Cory Waldroup knocked in two runs.

South Rowan’s baseball team lost 10-6 at Central Cabarrus in SPC action on Friday.
The Vikings managed to split the series with the Raiders after being beaten 10-0 by South on Tuesday.
Andrew Burgesser did the job on the mound for Central.
• Northwest Cabarrus won 2-1 against Hickory Ridge on Friday in SPC baseball to finish a sweep.

Davie County lost 7-1 to A.C. Reynolds on Friday at Rich Park.
Charlie Muchukot, Ben Beeson and Chris Reynolds had hits for Davie. Beeson drove in the run.
Tristan Comer took the loss for the War Eagles (4-9).
South Rowan won 3-2 at home against West Rowan in SPC action on Friday.
West out-hit the Raiders 11-6, but South’s three-run fourth inning was decisive.
Caitlin Waters had a two-run triple for South and scored on a hit by Beth Ann Martin.
Abby Fields had two hits for South.
Samantha Kennerly went the distance for South in the circle, striking out seven and walking one.
Taylor Martin had three hits for the Falcons, while Hunter Gibbons had two.
Peyton Greene and Marissa Yow had RBIs for West.
Greene held South to six hits and struck out five.
Trailing 3-1, West had runners at second and third with one out in the seventh when Yow flied out to center field to Fields, who made the catch charging toward the infield.
Taylor Martin tagged up at third and beat the throw home to make it 3-2, but Gibbons was thrown out trying to advance to third on a close play to end the game.
• East Rowan rolled against Concord 12-0.
Cierra Josey and Cassie Howard scored goals in Carson’s 2-0 SPC win against Central Cabarrus on Friday.
• Cox Mill stayed undefeated in the SPC with a 10-0 win against East Rowan.
• South Rowan lost 3-2 to Northwest Cabarrus in SPC soccer on Friday.
Leslie Franks and Keirsten Morgan scored for South.
Central Cabarrus beat Hickory Ridge 7-2 to stay unbeaten in SPC tennis.
Catawba won 4-1 against Mars Hill in SAC action on Friday at Newman Park.
Catawba hurler Craig Brooks (8-2) took a no-hitter into the seventh.
Doubles by Ethan Satterfield and Julio Zubillaga (Carson) gave the Indians a 1-0 lead in the second, and Satterfield’s two-run triple and Zubillaga’s RBI groundout made it 4-0 in the sixth.
Keaton Hawks had three hits for the Indians (22-13, 15-6) , while Cameron Beard and Jon Wallace had two each.
Dalton Eisenbath homered for Mars Hill leading off the seventh.
The teams will play a doubleheader today, starting at 1 p.m.
• Pfeiffer used a nine-run fourth inning to beat Limestone 15-4 on Friday.
Keith Little was the winning pitcher.
Dylan Goodman (South Rowan) scored twice for the Falcons.
• Preston Troutman (East Rowan) had two hits and scored two runs as Appalachian State beat Wofford 12-5 in Southern Conference play on Friday.
Lily Yatawara (Salisbury) helped Appalachian State win the University Cup against Gardner-Webb at Mimosa Hills in Morganton. She teamed with Eric Eberspeaker to win 1-up in match play.
The Kannapolis Intimidators on 7-2 against the Greenville Drive at CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Friday.
The Intimidators (1-1) got two RBIs from Trey Michalczewski and five shutout innings from Tyler Danish.

Knox’s boys won 7-2 against West Rowan Middle.
Singles winners for Knox were Simon Post, Roarke Burton, Cole Goodnight and Luke Grenoble.
Doubles winners were Post-Goodnight, Burton-Grenoble and Cristian Gonzalez-John Burris.
The Trojans(5-1) travel to Erwin on Tuesday.
• Erwin’s boys won against China Grove.
Jesus Baron, Jacob Hall, Drew Walker, Osvaldo Fuentes and Nick Shoemaker won in singles for the Eagles.
Baron, Hall, Fuentes and Walker contributed to doubles wins.
Garrett Harrington hit a home run for Corriher-Lipe in a 10-9 loss to Knox. Brandon Goodman and Scott Cline pitched for the Yellow Jackets.
• In a 5-3 loss to Mooresville, Anthony Fox pitched six innings for the Yellow Jackets.
NCHSAA Hall of Fame inductions are today in Chapel Hill.
Inductees are Bobby Gutnrie, Jack Huss, Shelly Marsh, Lindsey Linker, Cindi Simmons, Sam Story and Ronald Vincent.
Rowan County American Legion is holding sign-ups on Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the Harold B. Jarrett Post 342 on Lincolnton Road in Salisbury.
Players 19-under are eligible for the Senior team and players 17-under are eligible for the Junior team.
