Carson bounced back from a 7-1 loss to SPC leader Cox Mill on Tuesday to beat South Rowan 3-0 on Wednesday.
Sarah Safrit, Katie Barringer and Cierra Josey scored goals for the Cougars, who are in second place.
West Rowan shot 152 on Monday and nipped Hickory Ridge (153), East Rowan (154) and South Rowan (155) at Irish Creek.
South’s Davis Richards was medalist with a 34.
Jake Kennedy (35) and Chris Hassard (37) led the Falcons.
• In the SPC match at Skybrook on Tuesday, East and West tied at 162. South shot 163.
Kennedy shot 34 for medalist honors.
East’s Nicky Lyerly shot 37, while teammate Logan Shuping shot 38.
Richards shot 38, and South’s Evan Neas shot 39.
• In a CCC match on Wednesday at Winding Creek, Salisbury shot 155 to top second-place West Davidson by 19 strokes.
Eric Edwards and Gabe Steinman shot 36s for the Hornets to share medalist honors. Abraham Post shot 38, and John Murphy shot 45.
West Davidson was led by Nathan Curry’s 37.
North Rowan finished fourth at 198. Scorers were Tyler Mulkey (39), Steven Thurston (48), Luke Miller (54) and Brodie Madison (57).
Carson won 8-4 against Northwest Cabarrus in SPC action on Wednesday.
Krista Penninger was the winning pitcher.
Michaela White had four hits for the Cougars, including a double. Madison Barnhardt had three hits. Kayln Ellenburg belted two doubles. Kinsley Bean, Jana Bradshaw, Mariah Morgan and Morgan Peninger also had hits.
A.L. Brown won 7-3 against Northwest Cabarrus in a non-conference game.
• Salisbury announced that its CCC home game with Lexington has been moved up from Friday to tonight at 7 p.m.
• East Davidson won 7-2 against Southern Guilford on Wednesday in non-conference baseball. Ryan McIntyre was the winning pitcher and knocked in four runs. Kelvin Pena had three hits. Nathan Campbell drove in two runs for the Golden Eagles (7-4).
Clint Comadoll, Spencer Storey, Chris Derrick, David Derrick, Alex Julian and Hunter Carlton won singles matches as Salisbury beat Thomasville 9-0 to stay unbeaten overall and in the CCC, Comadoll-Storey, the Derricks and Carlton-Julian were the winning doubles teams. Salisbury (12-0) is at Carson today.
Catawba scored 13 runs in the fifth inning and won 16-10 at UNC Pembroke on Tuesday.
Keaton Hawks had four RBIs in the fifth inning with a double and a triple. Craig Brooks had a two-run triple, and Ethan Satterfield had a two-run double.
Michael Trombino pitched four innings of no-hit relief for Catawba (21-13).Hawks finished with five RBIs. Julio Zubillaga had four hits. Satterfield and Paul Kronenfeld scored three runs each.
Catawba trailed 9-2 before it rallied.
Catawba split with Queens in SAC softball on Wednesday at Whitley Field.
Queens won 1-0 in eight innings and Catawba won the second game 3-2.
Carley Tysinger (15-5) pitched both games for the Indians (22-11). She fanned 24 in the doubleheader and hit a game-winning homer in the nightcap.
North Rowan Middle won 10-3 against China Grove.
McGwire Smith pitched a complete game and struck out seven,
Brett Tucker went 4-for-4 for the Mavericks. Smith had three hits, and Spencer Everhart had two.
North hosts Southeast today.
Knox won 9-0 against Corriher-Lipe.
Singles winners for the Trojans were Simon Post, Roarke Burton, Cole Goodnight, Luke Grenoble, Cristian Gonzalez and Zach Chichester.
Post-Goodnight, Burton-Grenoble and Gonzalez-Chichester were the winning doubles teams.
The Kannapolis Intimidators open the South Atlantic League season tonight at home with a 7:05 game against Greenville.
• Jerry Sands (Catawba) didn’t make the opening day roster of the Tampa Bay Rays and is starting the season at Triple A Durham.
• Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) will be on the roster of the Double A Birmingham Barons to start the season.
Rowan County American Legion is holding sign-ups on Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the Harold B. Jarrett Post 342 on Lincolnton Road in Salisbury.
Players 19-under are eligible for the Senior team and players 17-under are eligible for the Junior team.
