American Legion Auxiliary Faith Unit 327 has selected three students to attend the 75th session of Tar Heel Girls State at Catawba College in Salisbury June 15-21. All are rising seniors at East Rowan High School.
They are Lara Drew, daughter of Mitch and Sally Drew; Elane Kepley, daughter of Richard and Leslie Kepley; and McKenzie Eller, daughter of David and Traci Eller.
Tar Heel Girls State offers girls the opportunity to hear top North Carolina government officials speak; organize local governments; develop fictitious political parties, including party platforms, campaigns and conventions; hold statewide election of a slate of state officers; and use parliamentary procedure to conduct all sessions.
Installation of state officers, a talent show and Girls State Chorus are highlights of the week’s activities.
