Rowan weather: Chance of storms Friday

We’re not going to make it through a week without a hazardous weather outlook, but at least it’s not for snow or ice.
The National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of severe thunderstorms on Friday, with warm, moist, unstable air over the region. A strong wind shear ahead of an approaching cold front may allow a few thunderstorms to produce damaging wind gusts.
Meanwhile, under sunny skies, today’s high will be near 83 degrees and tonight’s low only 53.
Thursday has a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers with a high near 80. Thursday night will drop to 58 degrees.
Friday’s chance of rain is only 30 percent, despite the thunderstorm outlook. Storms may develop after 3 p.m. High will be 78, with wind gusts as high as 28 mph. The chance of showers and thunderstorms continues Friday night with a low of 54.
Saturday should be mostly sunny and a little less warm, with a high near 72 and a low of 44. Sunday will be cooler yet, with a high of 63 and a low of 46. A 40 percent chance of rain moves in Sunday night.
Monday, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 50 percent, with a high near 64. Showers and storms continue Monday night with a low near 49.
Tuesday, there’s a lingering chance of showers and a high of 64.
