Salisbury soccer rolls

Ceci Cardelle scored three goals as Salisbury defeated Lexington 6-0 on Monday in CCC girls soccer.
The Hornets (6-1-1) are 2-0 in the CCC.
Also scoring for the Hornets were Maddie Labovitz, Katie Bullock, and Adna Music. Cardelle, Bullock, M. Labovitz, Ashlyn Heidt, Nellie Brown, and Abby Lee had assists. Freshman Juliana Anderson had the shutout in goal for SHS. Also playing well for Salisbury were Kathryn Rusher, Casey Roswarski, Amelia Steinman and Shelby Holden.
Salisbury plays Wednesday against Thomasville at 6 and hosts West Rowan Thursday at 6.
Salisbury’s boys golf team shot 162 and won a CCC golf match at Sapona on Monday.
North Rowan’s Tyler Mulkey was medalist with a 36. Salisbury scorers were Eric Edwards (38), Chris Queen (38), John Murphy (42) and Abraham Post (44).
Steven Thurston shot 47 for North.
West Davidson shot 166 for second place. Nathan Curry shot 37 for the Green Dragons, while Logan Herma shot 39.
North shot 204 and finished fourth.

North Rowan Middle School boys won the seventh-grade basketball tournament by beating Mooresville 50-39.
In the championship game, Brevin Goodlett led the Mavericks with 14 points. Xavier Titus had 10 and Derrick Page scored nine.
North (16-1) and Mooresville shared the regular-season title with the Mavericks and Red Imps both winning games on their home floor.
North won 57-32 against West Rowan Middle in a semifinal.
Shawn Perry is the head coach of the Mavericks. Quintous Smith is the assistant coach.

In the Thursday Scramble at Rolling Hills, two teams tied for first place.
The team of Ronnie Eidson, John King and Sonny Wilson shared honors with te team of Vernon Hunt, Frank Goforth and Andrew Metcalf.
Kannapolis American Legion Post 115 will hold baseball signups on Saturday, April 12.
Sign-ups for the Junior team will be at 10 a.m. at the Post hedadquarters at 615 South Main St., Kannapolis.
Junior Legion is for players born after Jan. 1 1997.
At this meeting, Form 2 paperwork will be completed. A player may not take the field for tryouts until the Form 2 is completed. A notarized parent signature is required on the Form 2. Please bring an original birth certificate.
Senior Players will sign-up at 1 p.m. Senior Legion is for players born after Jan. 1, 1995.
Post 115 has Northwest Cabarrus as the base school. It also draws players from A.L. Brown, Cox Mill and Robinson as well as private schools and homeschoolers.
Joe Hubbard returns as head coach for the Senior team and will be assisted by Jason Sarvis. The Post 115 athletic officer is Dean Mullinax. The Juniors will be coached by Charles Weber and Ryan Hodges with Jay Hosack, Todd Thacker and Joseph Thacker assisting. Ronnie Raper is AD for the Junior team.

• Rowan County sign-ups are April 13 at the Harold B. Jarrett Post 342 on Lincolnton Road in Salisbury.
The Greater Cabarrus Homeschool Stallions won 11-1 against Lincoln Charter on Monday. Caleb Threadgill had four hits and two RBIs. Dalton Lankford had three hits and three RBIs. Noah Jarrett had two hits and two RBIs. Josh Holt had a double.
Jarrett pitched one-hit ball for four innings. Hunter Shepherd and Sawyer Strickland finished up on the mound.
West Rowan won 7-1 against Erwin.
Owen White pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12. Cole Myers and Payne Stolsworth had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs.
West plays Southeast on Wednesday at 6:30 at West Rowan High.
Southeast defeated China Grove 9-0.
Singles winners were Hunter Smith, Jailen Williams, James Ruiz, Trexler Cloninger, Alex Mercado, and Alex Taylor.
Doubles wins came from Smith-Williams, Ruiz-Mercado and Cloninger-Taylor.
• Knox lost 7-2 to Mooresville. Singles winners for the Trojans were Simon Post and Cristian Gonzalez.
Knox hosts Corriher-Lipe today.
