SALISBURY — F&M Investment Services has announced the promotions of Bruce Sanborn and Jason Holt to senior vice president, approved by the board of directors on March 11.

SALISBURY — The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s April Women In Business Event will reveal the names of five outstanding women in the medical field.
The event, set for noon to 1 p.m. April 10, will feature the results of a survey of more than 100 medical providers, patients and their families by Carillon Assisted Living, which asked who stands out in the Rowan County medical field. SALISBURY — Uptown Dogs and Cats has a new owner after the retirement of Judy Griffin.
Husband-and-wife team Piero and Jenn Sciortino took over the business Dec. 1. Jenn Sciortino works as the groomer, while Piero Sciortino manages the shop at 2125 Statesville Blvd.
“I believe every dog deserves to feel as comfortable as possible,” said Jenn Sciortino, who has been a professional groomer for 25 years.
Uptown Dogs and Cats offers full-service grooming for all breeds by appointment, as well as walk-in nail trimming and a do-it-yourself pet wash. The business also sells Chicken Soup for the Soul dog food and offers a selection of treats, toys and accessories.

SALISBURY — Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, Rowan Hospice & Palliative Care, Novant Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health, along with other regional hospitals, are leading an effort to highlight the importance of advance health-care planning.
On April 16, National Healthcare Decisions Day, Novant will host events in Salisbury and Winston-Salem for the community. At the free workshops, participants will learn about the importance of advance healthcare planning.

GREENSBORO — Rondol Davidson of Greensboro, a Salisbury native and 1972 graduate of West Davidson High School, has been named to the Court of the Table.
The honor is part of the Million Dollar Round Table, an association of financial professionals founded in 1927. Davidson is a 27-year member of the Million Dollar Round Table and a seven-time qualifier for Court of the Table.
The achievement places Davidson among the top professionals in the global life insurance and financial services industry. It recognizes him for professional knowledge, client service and ethical conduct.

SALISBURY — Subway restaurants are thanking Habitat for Humanity volunteers at work sites across the Carolinas with a free catered lunch during National Volunteer Week, April 6-12.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization and some of our affiliates are completely volunteer run,” explained Christine Odom, Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina executive director. “We appreciate Subway joining us to show our neighbors and community members we value what they do to make our state better.”
 About 2,000 Habitat volunteers working across the Carolinas will receive lunches from local Subway restaurants, including volunteers in Anson, Cabarrus, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Union and York counties.

LEXINGTON — Hospice of Davidson County will hold its 30th annual meeting on Thursday, April 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Rittling Conference Center at Davidson County Community College. This year’s luncheon will feature guest speaker Owen Covington, healthcare reporter for The Business Journal.
Covington is a reporter for The Business Journal, which covers 17 business industries and is the leading business publication in the Piedmont Triad. Covington covers insurance, local government and law, in addition to his coverage of healthcare across the Triad. Covington grew up in Greensboro, so he understands local healthcare well. Covington attended has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College and a Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to joining The Business Journal in 2010, Covington worked for six years in Owensboro, Kentucky for The Messenger-Inquirer. As the featured speaker at the 30th Annual Meeting for Hospice of Davidson County, Covington will talk about healthcare in the Triad and how hospice fits into the healthcare continuum.
At the annual meeting, the board of directors will also award The Founders Award, recognizing an individual(s) who has made significant contributions to the agency; and The Community Partner Award, which recognizes a business, church, foundation or organization who has made significant contributions to the agency. The Hospice of Davidson County Heart of Hospice award will be presented to an outstanding staff member, and other staff will be recognized for their years of service. A new board will be elected and members whose terms have expired will be honored.

Central Carolina Insurance Agency Inc. has opened a new insurance and investment services department with   Anthony Robbins leading the new benefits department.
 Robbins is a North Carolina native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He has been living in the Mooresville area for the last 11 years.  He has more than a decade of experience as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments.

Piedmont Natural Gas collects 648 cans of food for Rowan Helping Ministries
The Piedmont Natural Gas Salisbury Resource Center recently completed a canned food drive and delivered 648 cans on Monday, March 17, to Rowan Helping Ministries.
The canned food drive, chaired by Alice Suber, began March 3 with a goal of 200 cans and was set up as a challenge between the O&M/Measurement team and the Field Customer Service/Sales team. Winning team members would receive a $10 gift card to Subway, courtesy of PNG’s Community Relations Department. Each team member was required to bring a minimum of three cans to participate. The spirited competition ended with the O&M/Measurement team winning 344 to 256 cans. Winning team members include Tim Teaford, David Motley, David Billingsley, Jason Fain, Ray Link, Josh Witherspoon, Ken Safrit, Kevin Ennis, Zack Campbell, Brian Jones, Ben Motley and Jason Everhart.
The 648 cans collected will supply food for a number of families that seek assistance through Rowan Helping Ministries.
