The Kannapolis Board of Education honored outstanding representatives from Jackson Park Elementary School at its March meeting.
Hunter Linker — Hunter Linker is a third-grade student at Jackson Park. Hunter is a hard worker and is eager to learn as much as he can. He is kind to everyone and never judges. He is always ready and willing to help other students who may be struggling. He’s smart, funny and a great leader. He is a great all-around kid, and we can’t wait to see what he becomes in the future.
Emma Wallace — Emma Wallace is a fourth-grade student at Jackson Park. Wallace excels far beyond grade level expectations and serves as an amazing example for other students in both attitude and work ethic. When she works the Jackson Park morning news show, her positive mood and personality are a breath of fresh air. She has the ability, the drive and a love for learning to achieve anything in life. Her future is very bright and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with such a good student.
Dani Lofty — Dani Lofty is an asset to the Media Center at Jackson Park. She is a great volunteer who spends 3 to 4 days each week checking books in and out of the library and restocking bookshelves. Many people don’t even know she’s there or the amount of work she does. Without Lofty, it would be difficult for Mrs. Wolfe to find the time to get all the books shelved and back into rotation for check-out.
Estella Bankhead — Estella Bankhead is a priceless volunteer at Jackson Park. She spends countless hours working hard to raise funds for the Parent-Teacher Organization to improve our school. It seems she is always at the school — even on weekends — helping to raise money. We are so blessed to have her as a volunteer at Jackson Park.
Verisa Gill — Verisa Gill is a teacher assistant to the 4th grade teachers, teaching small groups, making copies, and helping in any way needed. She is an efficient, hard worker who whole-heartedly believes that student achievement is directly impacted by student attendance. She has taken on the tardy and absentee issues, often contacting parents by phone, letter, or personal visit. Outside the classroom, Gill has a bus route and serves as a car rider monitor. She is a regular field trip driver for the monthly EC classes and works very well with these students.
Jacki Lane — Jacki Lane is the new STEM teacher at Jackson Park. The kids absolutely love going to STEM and are learning so much from the activities she has planned. Lane has gone above and beyond expectations by providing many resources for classroom teachers’ instruction to expand what they are teaching or just filling in the holes about STEM. She is also reaching into classrooms to work with kids to provide enrichment or tutoring. Because of her hard work, dedication and passion, the kids are getting more out of science than they ever have before.
