Carson’s boys track team placed fourth in Saturday’s Marvin Ridge Invitational.
MyQuon Stout won the discus (150 feet, 8 inches) and the shot put (51-6).
Andrew Hower placed second in the long jump (20-10), third in the high jump (6-4) and fourth in the triple jump (41-2).
Tyler Mason was fourth in the discus (130-0).
Zachary Marchinko was sixth in the 3200 (10:07.21).
The 4×100 relay team of Darren Isom, Jemeil Dukes, Brandon Huneycutt and Andy Lear placed eighth.
East Rowan’s Marshall Shank tied for third in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet.
A.L. Brown’s Logan Miller was fifth in the triple jump (40-7 1/2), and Cameron McKnight was eighth in the long jump (19-6).
• A.L. Brown’s girls did well. Simone Carroll was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.38) and fifth in the long jump 914-7 1/4). Jada Balknight was fifth in the dicus (85-0). Aitana Grant was third in the triple jump (33-1 3/4) and seventh in the long jump (14-4 1/2).
East Rowan lost to Glenn 6-3 at Staton Field in non-conference baseball on Saturday.
“They’re pretty good, they threw their No. 1, and we played like we were worn out and kicked it around a little bit,” East coach Brian Hightower said.
Dustin Ritchie had a homer and a double for the Mustangs (4-4). Seth Wyrick had two hits. Logan Towne took the loss in his first start of the season.
East will send Chase Jarrett to the mound Tuesday when the Mustangs, who are 4-2 in league play, return to SPC action at Hickory Ridge (3-3). Connor Johnson is the probable starter Friday.
• Salisbury lost 13-3 to Statesville in a non-conference game on Saturday, although a protest has been filed due to rules issues. The Hornets are scheduled to play at Forbush Tuesday.
• East Davidson won 9-3 against Wheatmore on Saturday.
Nick Williams, Ryan McIntyre and Matt Fanary had two hits each. Nathan Campbell had a triple and two RBIs. Williams (1-1) was the winning pitcher.
• The Greater Cabarrus Stallions won Saturday’s Baseball Bash. In a 20-0 win against York Prep, Hunter Shepherd had four hits, and Noah Jarrett and McConner Wallace had two each. Sawyer Strickland and Wallace combined on the shutout.
• In a 12-2 win against the Charlotte Stampede, Caleb Threadgrill had three hits, including two doubles.
Dalton Lankford had two hits. Jarrett and Tyler Hartsell doubled. Shepherd was the winning pitcher.
Davie won 7-2 against East Davidson on Saturday.
Sarah Myers and McKenzie Smith drove in two runs each for the War Eagles. Elizabeth Holland had two hits. Julie Gough was the winning pitcher and struck out five.
Salisbury’s McKenzie Stevens was named CCC Girls Swimmer of the Year.
Joining Stevens on the all-conference team from Salisbury were Sharmi Armin, Amelia Steinman, Callie Alexander, Shelby Holden and Nellie Brown.
West Davidson’s Randy Rouse was named CCC Coach of the Year.
Boys
Salisbury’s Taylor Rodenhuis was runner-up for CCC Swimmer of the Year honors to Lexington’s Cole Riggan.
Joining Rodenhuis on the All-CCC team were Salisbury’s Matt Woolly, Max Patel and Andrew Mason.
Salisbury’s Tyrell Blakeney, Chris Vera, Willie Clark, Darius Jackson and Jeffrey Burton are All-CCC, along with North Rowan’s Braxton Rabon, Brandon Rabon and Spencer Bowler.
Players of the year were Thomasville’s Ahsan Butt, West Davidson’s Shane Hemmings and Lexington’s Zack Mauldin.
Thomasville’s Richard Herman was named CCC Coach of the Year.
Brett Huffman (West Rowan) had three hits for UNC Pembroke in Sunday’s 10-4 win against Georgia Southwestern.
Huffman has five homers and 24 RBIs for the 16th-ranked Braves (20-6).
• Caleb Henley (East Rowan) pitched three innings and struck out two in a relief appearance in UNC Greensboro’s 11-1 loss to Princeton on Sunday.

Catawba’s women’s team lost 6-5 to SAC opponent Newberry on Saturday.
Catawba (3-4, 2-1) Alyssa Corace scored three goals for the Indians. Bethany Davis stopped 12 shots.
• Catawba’s men’s team lost 14-8 at Mars Hill on Sunday. John Scheich led the Indians (4-4, 2-1) with two goals and two assists.
Appalachian State’s Lily Yatawara (Salisbury) shot 84-77 — 161 in the Pinehurst Challenge. She tied for 49th and helped ASU place seventh.
The Liberty Men’s Church Softball League is taking registrations for this season.

South Rowan junior Davis Richards won the N.C. Junior Golf Foundation tournament at Irish Creek.
Richards shot 69-69 — 138. He had a 29 on the front nine on Sunday.
Salisbury’s Eric Edwards shot 74-58 — 152 to finish 12th. Jake Kennedy (West Rowan) shot 79-75 — 154 to finish 13th.
Competing in the freshman/sophomore division, East Rowan’s Nick Lyerly shot 73-76 — 149 for fourth, while East’s Logan Shuping shot 74-76 — 150 for fifth.
Sacred Heart’s Michael Childress shot 80-79 — 159. South’s Parker Chavis shot 86-85 — 171, and Carson’s Bobby Bauer shot 83-92 — 175.
