West Rowan Middle School students will return to class today and will make-up Monday’s missed classes this Saturday.
Students will arrive on a regular schedule Saturday and will be dismissed at 1 p.m.
“ It will be a good instructional day,” said Rowan-Salisbury School System Public Information Officer Rita Foil.
Classes were cancelled today due to a power outage.
The school lost power during Friday’s winter weather, and power was restored Saturday around 7 p.m.
“Then sometime during the night, the transformer blew,” Foil said.
School system officials had initially ordered a three-hour delay today at West Rowan Middle, but later decided it was best to cancel classes altogether.
Foil said about three-quarters of the building’s power was back on around 5:30 p.m. Monday and that crews would work to fully restore power.
Duke Energy crews discovered a wire problem behind the transformer that was causing it to blow.
