LANDIS — Town officials said heavy rains caused wastewater to spill into a creek Friday.
About 12,000 gallons overflowed a lift station on South Upright Street, with about 10,000 gallons reaching Coldwater Creek, the town said.
Rain totaling about 2.75 inches in less than 24 hours got into the system and caused the overflow, the town said in a news release. Officials found no significant environmental impact to the creek, according to the news release.
The town reported the spill to the Mooresville Regional Office of the N.C. Division of Water Quality.
