Downtown events season offers 20 special nights

SALISBURY — Historic downtown Salisbury will host 20 events in the coming months, including the popular Friday Night Out and its new cousin, 1st Friday.
The promotion committee for Downtown Salisbury Inc. has announced the 2014 events season, including eight Friday Night Outs, running April through November, and 1st Friday every month from 5 to 8 p.m.
Earth Night Out will kick off the Friday Night Out season on April 18 with a focus on beautification, the environment, recycling and more.
Other Friday Night Outs will include:
Spring Night Out, May 9
Arts Night Out, June 20
Krazy Night Out, July 18
Summer Night Out, Aug. 15
Kid’s Night Out, Sept. 19
OctoberTour Night Out, Oct. 10
Holiday Night Out, Nov. 28
The upcoming 1st Friday this week will focus on promoting hunger awareness in Rowan County. Merchants will offer a 10 percent discount to any customer who donates four or more pantry or toiletry items to Rowan Helping Ministries. The collection tent will be on the Square.
Participating downtown restaurants will donate 10 percent of their food sales from 5 to 8 p.m. to Rowan Helping Ministries.
April’s 1st Friday event will focus on history in Rowan County with activities throughout the downtown and at the Rowan Museum.
The Downtown Merchants Association and Downtown Salisbury Inc. come up with downtown events.
