The Catawba Singers and the Catawba Chamber Singers will present the first of their two spring concerts at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2 in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on the Catawba College campus. The program, “Let All Creation Sing,” will feature texts with references to all of God’s creation.
The hour-long program is free and open to the public and will feature a variety of styles, including selections from works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Rutter, Enya and Carly Simon.
Soloists include Allison Andrews of Sherrills Ford; James Satterwhite of Concord; Jason Hickerson of Statesville; Daniel Brown of Chinquapin; and Quashona Smith of Atlantic City, N.J.
The program, presented by 48-student voices, will be directed by Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, Catawba’s choral director and adjunct faculty member in music. Accompanists include Jacob Hahn and Susan Trivette on the piano and Matthew Brown on the organ.
Special guests and local favorites Jeremy and Jessica Vess will open for the band Life Size this Saturday at Lee Street theatre.
The Life Size EP release and live concert recording concert is March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

CONCORD — Old Courthouse Theatre announces auditions for “Tintypes,” a grand pageant of pre-World War I America told in the exuberant words and music of the day.

CONCORD — The popular Brand New Opry bluegrass show returns to the Davis Theatre next Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.

STATESVILLE — The NC Thumbpickers Convention makes a comeback to Downtown Statesville on Saturday, March 1 at Shearer Hall Mitchell Community College
Proceeds benefit the MCC Endowment for Excellence, Iredell Arts Council, and the NC Thumb and Finger Style Guitar Players Association.
On Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. there will be an Open Mic on the stage and workshops will be held. There will also be a luthier exhibit next door. Pre-show entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. and the concerts will run from 6 to 10 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for general admission to just the concerts and $15 for the entire day including workshops and concerts that evening.

Tripp Edwards will guest host Laugh Tracks this weekend at Spoken Space Theatre, 405 N. Lee St.
Edwards, a singer/songwriter from Salisbury, will also be acting in the comedy sketches.
Puck, a dog, will also appear in a sketch called “Wally Woo Woo.”
Shows are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and M arch 1, with a late show on Saturday at 10 p.m.
Laugh Tracks is sketch comedy show with completely new sketches every two weeks. The show follows a Saturday Night Live format with guest hosts, musical guests, multimedia and a news broadcast.
Laugh Tracks tickets are $10 at the door, $8 for students. Admission includes a free Laugh Tracks special designer cookie produced by Firehouse Sweets.
