Catawba at home vs. Moose, Brevard
Catawba’s men’s basketball team will play its final home game of the season this afternoon when it hosts Brevard.
One of the standouts for Brevard is former Carson star Darius Moose.
Carson’s Nick Houston is a key reserve for Catawba.
A SAC doubleheader begins with the women’s game at 2 p.m.
• Livingstone’s teams close the CIAA regular season tonight with a trip to Winston-Salem State.
The doubleheader starts at 5:30 p.m.
Livingstone’s men are Southern Division champions.
In one of the stranger occurrences of the this basketball season, Wednesday’s game between Winston-Salem State and Johnson C. Smith was declared a draw due to a broken light fixture above the court.
The teams completed the game Friday afternoon, with Johnson C. Smith getting the 89-86 win in overtime.
The result dropped Winston-Salem State two games behind Livingstone in the South standings.
Northwest Cabarrus cross country and track standout, Gil Gilreath has signed with Mars Hill.
• East Rowan cross country runner Tori Gaul will sign with Carson-Newman.
The Corbin Hill Spring Team Tournament will be held on April 26-27.
The format is Captain’s Choice. Teams will consist of two players. Teams will be flighted after Saturday’s round.
Entry Fee is $75.00 per player (Non-member fee)
Entry includes green fee, cart, food and prizes for both days. Entry does not include the optional team skins game both days and the optional calcutta on Sunday.
Tee Assignment: All players will play a combination Blue/White tournament tee. Seniors 65 years and older will play the Gold tees. Ladies will play from the Red tees.

The Rockwell Christian boys season ended in the first round of the state tournament with a 69-49 loss to Cornerstone Academy of Fayetteville. Nathan Hoehman led Rockwell with 18 points, while Titus Cruse added 12.
Hoehman a senior, made all-conference and first team all-region. He averaged 20 points a game. Austin Teodorvici made all-conference for the Rockwell jayvees.
Jaylen Davis’ career-high five RBIs were not enough for Appalachian State to overcome four errors in a 6-5 loss to N.C. State on Friday.
Preston Troutman (East Rowan) had two hits against N.C. State’s Carlos Rodon, a potential No. 1 pick in the next draft.
Troutman is 3-for-6 overall with a double and a home run against Rodon.
Appalachian State and the sixth-ranked Wolfpack continue their three-game series today at 1 p.m. at Doak Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN3.
Sophomore Gina Gerone singled home Holli Chandler with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to lift host Catawba to a 2-1 win over GRU Augusta in softball action on Friday afternoon at Whitley Field. The win improves the Catawba Indians to 4-1, while the Jaguars fall to 5-9.
Registration is open through March 22 for soccer and flag football at the South Rowan YMCA.The leagues are coed and are for grades K-8. Games start in mid-April.
Girls middle school volleyball registration for grades 6-8 will end March 1.

Spencer Little league will be holding tryouts at the 8th Street Ballpark in Spencer today, from 9-3, for boys and girls, ages 4-15.
