Registration for Fashionista Pageant starts Saturday

Registration starts Saturday for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sororitys major scholarship fundraiser, the Fashionista Pageant to be held June 28.
The pageant is open to girls in third- through 10th grades. Delta Xi Omega chapter members will meet twice a month until June with potential contestants, who will have workshops dealing with manners, self-esteem, bullying, famous female heroes and more.
Registration will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at Miller Recreation Center, 1500 W. Bank St.  The fundraiser will be at 6 p.m. June 28 in the Tubman Little Theater on the Livingstone College campus, where participants will showcase their talent, model latest fashions, present a creative dance and the minuet.
The Fashionetta Pageant, formally the Cinderella Ball, has been the signature fundraiser for Delta Xi Omega chapter for 60 years.  Money generated is used for educational grants and community service projects.  Each year scholarships are awarded to select graduating seniors from Rowan-Salisbury School System including Rowan Early College, and Davie County High School. Since 1948, the chapter has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in the community and donations to community service program in excess of $75,000.
