UPDATE: EAST SPENCER — Police say a neighbor spotted someone running from a home that burned late Wednesday.
The home at 28 Knox St. was in the process of being renovated, according to the owner, but was vacant. The neighbor heard someone yell that the house was on fire. The neighbor looked out window to see a male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt running from the house.
The fire reportedly began around 10 p.m. on the outside just above a second-floor window.
While they were at the Knox Street home, firefighters were called to another blaze at 818 Cedar St.
Three-quarters of the Cedar Street duplex was burning by the time they arrived.
Flames were engulfing the single-story duplex, so firefighters went into defensive mode early. They later reported there was no gas or power to the duplex, and it appeared vacant.
