County and school system leaders will meet again Feb. 27 in an effort to resolve a budget dispute that’s dragged on for months.
The Rowan County Board of Commissioners and Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will meet at 2 p.m. at the school district’s administrative offices, 314 N. Ellis St.
The boards have been at odds over operational and capital funding, including money for a new consolidated elementary school in western Rowan, renovations at Knox Middle, and a new central office.
A mediator recently denied the school board’s request to declare an impasse in the negotiations — which would have allowed the board to file a lawsuit — and asked the two bodies to try again to find a solution on their own.
