School make-up days

The Rowan-Salisbury School System and Kannapolis City Schools will have to make up class for days missed during last week’s winter weather. Both districts canceled classes last Wednesday and Thursday due to snow and icy roads.
The Rowan-Salisbury School System will convert teacher workdays scheduled for Feb. 14 and Feb. 17 into make-up days.
Kannapolis City Schools will use Feb. 17 as a make-up day, but due to a recent change in state law, will not schedule a second make-up day for schools.
The law requires schools to meet a minimum amount of hours in class, rather than a minimum amount of days. Since the district has enough hours, they chose not to schedule a make-up day for the second day missed.
