WINSTON-SALEM (AP) — Police in Winston-Salem say a man is holding a family member hostage in a hotel and they have been unable to convince him to surrender.
Police say they went to the hotel around 11 a.m. Monday after learning that a man wanted in the town of King and in Stokes County was in the room. They say the man told them he was armed and has a hostage. The man’s name has not been released.
The standoff continued this morning.
Lt. Rob Cozart said negotiations are continuing.
Cozart would not say whether police have provided food to the man or his hostage.
The hotel and several nearby businesses have been evacuated.
