Windy, dry weather raises fire threat
Temperatures are low but the threat of fire is high this weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for the region, including Rowan County, that is in effect from Saturday morning until the afternoon.
The weather service increasing winds and low humidity will dry out potential fuel sources for wildfires. Wind gusts would reach 40 miles an hour and humidity will drop to as low as 20 percent.
Saturday’s high temperature is forecast to be in the low 40s with an overnight low of 18.
