The Salisbury Community Foundation recently distributed grants totaling $80,350 to local nonprofit agencies.
Grants were awarded to the following organizations:
• $2,000 to Boy Scouts of America, Central N.C. Council, for the 2013-2014 Rowan County Scoutreach Program.
• $2,500 to Capstone Recovery Center Inc. for the Straight Paths for Life Program.
• $1,500 to Catawba College for the Robertson College Community Center Lighting Improvements Project.
• $500 to Center for Environment at Catawba College for the Health, Wellness and Sustainability Speaker Series.
• $3,000 to Communities in Schools of Rowan County for the Keeping Kids in School Program.
• $6,000 to Community Care Clinic of Rowan County Inc. for the dental staffing program.
• $2,500 to Families First-NC Inc. for the Second Step Program.
• $4,000 to Food For Thought of Rowan County for the Food for Thought 2013-2014 Program.
• $2,000 to Hood Theological Seminary for the New Refectory and Multipurpose Facility Furnishings Project.
• $3,500 to Knox Middle School for the STEM Pathways program.
• $2,000 to Lee Street Theatre for the summer internships program.
• $3,000 to Livingstone College for the QEP Book Club Program.
• $1,000 to Lutheran Services Carolinas for the Ensuring Good Health Program.
• $6,000 to Meals on Wheels of Rowan Inc. for the home delivered meals program.
• $2,000 to the Nazareth Children’s Home to purchase a security system for the new girls cottage project.
• $3,000 to Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center for the Behavioral Health, Medication and Readmission Crisis Reduction Plan.
• $2,500 to Prevent Child Abuse Rowan for the Circle of Hope Program.
• $3,000 to Rape, Child and Family Abuse Crisis Council of Salisbury for an individual counseling program.
• $4,500 to the Rowan County Crosby Scholars Community Partnership for academy expenses.
• $2,000 to the Rowan County Department of Social Services for the Essential Needs Placement Support Program.
• $6,000 to Rowan Helping Ministries for the Crisis Assistance Rent & Water Financial Vouchers Program.
• $2,000 to Rowan Museum Inc. for a Museum Collections Management Software Program.
• $2,000 to Rufty-Holmes Senior Center Inc. for a Home Repair/Disability Modification for Seniors Program.
• $850 to Salisbury Academy for the Salisbury Academy Service Learning Program.
• $5,000 to Waterworks Visual Arts Center Inc. for the 2014 Exhibitions.
• $3,000 to Westside Community Foundation Inc. for an after school tutoring program.
• $5,000 to YMCA of Rowan County for the “We Build People” Program.
The Salisbury Community Foundation was established in 1944 to increase the charitable giving resources in the Salisbury/Rowan County area. From its first contribution to create a community endowment, the Salisbury Community Foundation has grown into a philanthropic organization managing more than 90 funds with total charitable assets of more than $10 million.
The Salisbury Community Foundation joined Charlotte-based Foundation For The Carolinas as a supporting organization in 1995 and became an affiliate in 2006.
