Catawba’s basketball teams travel to Hartsville, S.C., to play new SAC member Coker tonight at Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
Catawba’s men have not played the Cobras (7-5, 4-4) since they beat them in 1985.
Catawba (4-8, 4-4) owns a two-game winning streak for the first time this season and is coming off its first road victory of the season at Brevard on Saturday.
Tyrece Little is close to becoming Catawba’s all-time leader for blocks. He has 170. Chris Wooldridge is the school record-holder with 177.
Kijuan Arrington leads the scoring for Catawba. His 18.7 points per game ranks seventh in the SAC.
Little averages 14.5 ppg.
Coker is coming off an 83-81 upset of Anderson. Julian Nelson, a 6-foot-5 guard, leads the Cobras with 15.7 ppg.
• Catawba’s women lead their series with Coker 4-2, although the teams haven’t played since 2006.
Catawba (7-5, 5-3) is only one game out of first place in the SAC despite back-to-back losses. Catawba trails co-leaders Carson-Newman and Coker (8-4, 6-2).
Chloe Bully averages 14.6 ppg. for Catawba and is 26 short of 1,000 points for her career. Mallary Clay averages 11.3 ppg. for the Indians and is the SAC’s top free-throw shooter.
Coker is led by guard Tenesha Stenson, who scores 16 ppg.

Catawba quarterback Danny O’Brien and safety LJ McCray helped their American squad top the Nationals 20-3 at the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl. The game was played Saturday at Hagood Stadium in Charleston, S.C., and featured college seniors from around the country at all NCAA levels.
O’Brien ran for an early score, while McCray had two tackles, including one for loss.
O’Brien set up the game’s initial score as he completed a 16-yard pass to Tennessee-Martin’s Jeremy Butler to the 1-yard line. He then scored on the next play to give the Americans the lead for good.
O’Brien finished with 87 yards passing. He completed 5-of-11 attempts with a long completion of 61 yards.

Fifty-five GARS members and seven guests played in foursomes at Crescent Golf Club. Low ‘A’ Flight player was Mickey Ousley with a net of 70.13. Low ‘B’ Flight player was Reid Bradshaw with a net of 69.57. Low ‘C’ Flight player with a net of 69.60 was John Cress. Low ‘D’ Flight player with a net of 67.77 was Jim Brown.
The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for girls basketball, ages 7-15, and coed basketball, ages 5 and 6. Cost for leagues is $30 per person. Sacred Heart’s varsity girls won 29-21 against Summit School of Winston-Salem.
Julia Honeycutt scored 11 points and nine rebounds, and Mary Sobataka had 10 points. Mary McCullough, Sara Nyugen and Olivia Dagenhart contributed points to the victory.
• Sacred Heart’s varsity boys won 43-22 against Summit. Will Taylor and Michael Childress led the Dolphins with 10 points each. Jack Fisher had eight points and nine rebounds. Eric Turnbull and Bill Fisher also scored in the victory.
