The Rowan-Salisbury Schools Board of Education told their lawyer to talk further with county commissioners “in hopes of resolving mediation by the end of the month” during a called meeting Thursday.
Chairman Dr. Richard Miller called the meeting to “review any or no decision” from the commissioners’ meeting Monday.
The county offered Rowan-Salisbury schools a $6.5 million loan to build a central office on the 500-block of North Main Street, but commissioners did not offer the $33.5 million in funding to renovate Knox Middle school or to build a consolidated west Rowan elementary school.
Asked if he felt the school board was making progress in resolving disputes with commissioners, Miller said, “I think we wouldn’t be authorizing continued dialogue if we didn’t.”
