For the second day in a row, local students will once again be going to class later than usual.
Rowan-Salisbury Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and a one-hour delay for staff again Wednesday due to continued frigid temperatures. All afternoon activities will operate under a normal schedule.
Kannapolis City Schools will operate under a two-hour delay for students only.
Catawba College will also have a two-hour delay, opening at 10 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures should dip to 13 degrees Tuesday night, but feel like 7 degrees with the wind chill.
Temperatures will remain in the low teens until 8 a.m. Wednesday, then will progressively climb, peaking at 39 degrees at 4 p.m.
This is the second day in a row low temperatures have caused schools to delay classes.
Meteorologists say these are the coldest temperatures the area has experienced since February 1996.
