South boys beat Bulls

South Rowan’s boys beat Hickory Ridge 64-54 on the road in SPC action on Friday.
“It was our most complete game of the year,” South coach Bryan Withers said. “The guys played together for four quarters/ We got the open man the ball and made plays.”
T’Vadis Graham-Wesley scored a career-high 20 points for the Raiders.
Shawn Spry (15), Christian Holbrook (11) and Qwan Rhyne (10) also scored in double figures.
Avery Metcalf scored 21 for the Ragin’ Bulls, and Nick Hough had 20.

Kiana Davis scored 23 points for the Ragin’ Bulls, who improved to 4-2 in the league.
Cassidy Chipman scored 17 for South. Beth Ann Martin and Kayla McLendon scored eight apiece.

A.L. Brown’s girls surprised East Rowan 62-58 at Bullock Gym on Friday in a non-conference game.
Aitana Grant scored 22 points to lead the Wonders (5-6), and Kyla Downs scored 11.
Jocelyn Lowe had a career game for East with five 3-pointers, 18 points and five assists. Karleigh Wike had eight points and 17 rebounds, and Kelli Fisher had 17 points and nine rebounds.
East had an enormous rebounding advantage (49-26), but the Wonders shot better than 50 percent from the field.
A.L. Brown also won the boys game, although no information was available.

Davie’s boys lost 74-46 at R.J. Reynolds in CPC play on Friday.
Peyton Sell led Davie with nine points. Holden Poole scored eight, and Jordan McDaniel had seven.
Davie trailed 17-7 after a quarte and was down 31-20 at halftime.
Akia Pruitt scored 19 for the Demons.
• Davie’s varsity girls lost 64-28 to R.J. Reynolds.
• Davie’s jayvee girls won 46-37 against RJR. Madison Bohannon had 13 points and seven rebounds. Jessie Beck had 11 points and eight rebounds.
West Rowan’s wrestlers defeated Concord 67-18 in SPC action on Friday at Rimer Gym to improve to 2-1.
Thomas Current, Cameron Butler, Dakota Goodson, Ben Kluttz and Jacob Wood had pins for the Falcons.
A.J. Martlock, Juwan Houston, Zach Ridenhour and Wood Poteat won by forfeit.
Franscisco Castro won by decision.
Catawba returns to action today at Goodman Gym.
The Indians will host Anderson in a SAC doubleheader, with games at 2 and 4. Kijuan Arrington leads the Catawba men, while Anderson’s Chandler Hash is one of the league’s top players.

East Rowan Mustangs Winter Baseball Camp for Ages 6-14 will be held on Jan. 11 and Jan. 18.
The Jan. 11 hitting camp costs $20. Instruction for ages 6-9 is from 12-2 and instruction for ages 10-14 is from 2-4 p.m.
Fielding camp on Jan. 18 costs $20 and is from 10 until noon for all ages.
The pitching camp is on Jan. 18 from 2-4 for all ages and also costs $20. Pitchers must bring their own catcher.
Players can attend all three camps for $50.
The camp will be held at Staton Field, weather permitting. The alternate site is the East Rowan High School Gym. Register online at www.ermustangbaseball.com, and check for updates at www.erds.baberuthonline.com. Payments should be made the day of the camp.
Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking registration for girls basketball for ages 7-15 and coed basketball for ages 5-6.
The cost is $30 per person. Register at Hall Gym (1400-B W. Bank St.) through Jan. 11.
