East Rowan won 40-31 against West Rowan in SPC wrestling on Thursday in Mount Ulla.
East’s Austin Hoosier, Sam Cornacchione, Logan Haas, Wyatt Blume and Shiheem Saunders won by pin.
Jake Boltz won a major decision, Luke Miller won a decision, and Wesley Porter won a decision in overtime.
West got pins from Fransisco Castro, Juwan Houston, Dakota Goodson and Ben Kluttz. Thomas Current won a major decision, while Jake Wood won a decision.
South Rowan’s swim teams hosted Central Davidson on Thursday. South’s girls won. Central’s boys won.
Winners for South’s girls included Faith Casswell (200 free, 500 free), Casey Pruitt (200 IM), Nicole Mauldin (50 Free), Taylor Kluttz (100 free) and Leslie Franks (100 fly, 100 back).
The Raiders swept the relays. Casswell, Franks, Pruitt and Mauldin won the 200 medley relay. Kluttz, Casswell, Mauldin and Franks won the 200 freestyle relay. Kluttz, Samantha Kennerly, Sabrina Broadway and Pruitt won the 400 freestyle relay.
Casswell achieved the regional qualification time in the 500, while Franks qualified for regionals in both the 100 fly and 100 back.
• South’s boys lost to Central. Winners for South’s boys included Tyler Fuller (50 free) and Stetson Johnston (100 back).
The 200 free relay of Steven Lyons, Fuller, Alex Reed and Reagan May also won.
The Raiders return to action on Tuesday when they host Maiden.
Prep basketball returns tonight.
In CCC games, Salisbury is at home against East Davidson, while North Rowan, which swept the recent Sam Moir Christmas Classic, hosts Lexington.
The Lexington girls figure to provide the toughest test unbeaten North has had so far this season. Lexington’s boys may be North’s strongest CCC opposition.
• It’s a full slate in the SPC. Carson is home against Northwest Cabarrus. West Rowan is home against Concord. South Rowan is on the road at Hickory Ridge.
Carson’s girls will be looking for their fourth straight SPC win, and it’s a critical home game for the Carson boys against one of the teams they figure to be fighting with for a playoff spot. Carson senior guard Tre Williams has 984 career points.
Concord’s boys are still unbeaten in the SPC. Concord standout Connor Burchfield has signed with William & Mary. West’s boys are 4-1 in the SPC and they own a big win at Carson but they’ll be underdogs tonight.
In the nine-team SPC, East Rowan is the odd team tonight and will go on the road to play on the college-sized floor at A.L. Brown.
A.L. Brown’s boys have gotten some sensational games from David Tripp and are a surprising 5-5 after losing all five starters from last season.
East’s girls are 10-1 and will be looking to bounce back from a lopsided loss to North Rowan in the Sam Moir Christmas Classic final.
• Davie returns to CPC action tonight at R.J. Reynolds. Both Davie teams went 2-1 in the Moir Classic.
Livingstone’s women’s basketball team lost 75-63 to Bowie State at New Trent Gym on Thursday.
Cierra York scored 27 points for the Blue Bears. Denver Clyde had 19 for the Bulldogs.
Reports out of Charleston, S.C., are that Lenoir-Rhyne football coach Mike Houston is on the short list of candidates for the job opening at The Citadel.
Houston, 42, just finished his third season at Lenoir-Rhyne and led the Bears to a 13-2 record and a runner-up finish in Division II.
Davie offensive lineman Trip McNeill, a Duke commit, has been named to the NCPreps.com All-State team.

East Rowan Mustangs Winter Baseball Camp for Ages 6-14 will be held on Jan. 11 and Jan. 18.
The Jan. 11 hitting camp costs $20. Instruction for ages 6-9 is from 12-2 and instruction for ages 10-14 is from 2-4 p.m.
Fielding camp on Jan. 18 costs $20 and is from 10 until noon for all ages.
The pitching camp is on Jan. 18 from 2-4 for all ages and also costs $20. Pitchers must bring their own catcher.
Players can attend all three camps for $50.
The camp will be held at Staton Field, weather permitting. The alternate site is the East Rowan High School Gym. Register online at www.ermustangbaseball.com, and check for updates at www.erds.baberuthonline.com. Payments should be made the day of the camp.
Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking registration for girls basketball for ages 7-15 and coed basketball for ages 5-6.
