THOMASVILLE (AP) — Thomasville has reported a wastewater spill of 96,000-gallons after heavy rain earlier this week.
The city said the wastewater spilled into South Hamby Creek in the Yadkin/Pee Dee River Basin on Monday.
City officials said the spill was caused by the heavy rains of the past few days.
City officials already had already taken steps to improve the pump station involved in this spill. That work is expected to be completed by April.
The North Carolina Division of Environment and Natural Resources is reviewing the spill.
