Livingstone’s men’s basketball team won 87-78 in overtime against Lynn on Friday night in a Marriott Classic game played in Boca Raton, Fla.
Mark Thomas scored 24 points for the Blue Bears (7-1), and Jody Hill had 23, including 10-for-10 foul shooting. Emarri Bailey added 13 points. Eric Mayo had seven rebounds.
Livingstone trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half but finished the half on a run for a 34-all tie.
Livingstone had an 11-point lead in the second half, but Lynn (5-4) came back to force overtime.
Hill made four free throws and a key 3-pointer for a seven-point lead in the overtime.
Livingstone takes on Barry at 5:30 p.m. today in Boca Raton.

Carson’s MyQuon Stout will wear No. 32 and will be a defensive end for the North Carolina team today when the 77th Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas is held in Spartanburg, S.C.
Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Stout has committed to Appalachian State.
Davie offensive lineman Trip McNeill, a Duke commitment who is 6-5, 305, also will play for the North Carolina stars.
South Carolina won 23-19 last season and leads the series 42-30-4.
Lee County’s Burton Cates is directing the North Carolina squad.
• A.L. Brown linebacker Kyrell Williamson was named Defensive Player of the Year for the MECKA 8.
Defensive lineman Kendall Holmes, defensive backs Daveon Perry and Kenon Jones, offensive linemen Kenny Halstenberg and Kaleb Spry and receivers Johnny Delahoussaey and Jonathan Bryant made all-conference.
Mallard Creek’s Jaylen Samuels was offensive player of the year, and Mallard Creek’s Mike Palmieri was coach of the year.
Davie’s girls lost to Page 38-33 on Friday, while Davie’s boys lost 91-54 to the Pirates.
The seeds are now set for the Sam Moir Christmas Classic on Dec. 26-28.
All ties were broken by head-to-head meetings.

Carson’s jayvee boys won 53-40 at Concord. Grayson Whicker scored 14. Brenden Westbrook had 13, and Christopher Barringer had 11.
Salisbury is third in the state in the 2A Cup standings with 185 points. Carrboro has 190, and Lake Norman has 202.5.
