After the fall sports season, Salisbury leads the CCC’s Wells Fargo Cup standings. The Wells Fargo Cup is an indicator of overall athletic excellence.
Salisbury had firsts in girls golf, girls tennis, boys soccer and boys cross country. West Davidson is in second place. East Davidson, Lexington, North Rowan and Thomasville follow.
• In the South Piedmont Conference, Carson leads after the fall sports season.
Carson won boys soccer and volleyball. Cox Mill is second. Next are East Rowan, Concord, Northwest Cabarrus, Hickory Ridge, West Rowan, Central Cabarrus and South Rowan.
• In the Mecka, Hough leads. Mallard Creek is second, with Robinson third. A.L. Brown is sixth.
• In the CPC, Reagan is in first place. Davie is sixth.
West Rowan won 58-24 against Central Cabarrus in SPC wrestling on Tuesday.
West (7-5, 1-0) got pins from Thomas Current, Andrew Raynes, Dakota Goodson, Zach Ridenhour, Ben Kluttz, Corbin Benton, Jacob Wood and Francisco Castro. Wood Poteat won a major decision, and Raykwon Torrence won by forfeit.

• Salisbury hosts the Rowan County Meet on Saturday.
In SPC matchups tonight, West Rowan is at East Rowan and Central Cabarrus is at South Rowan.
Darius Moose (Carson) scored 16 points for Brevard in Wednesday’s 79-68 loss to The Citadel.
•K.J. Sherrill (West Rowan) scored 18 points for Augusta on Tuesday in a 60-56 win at 10th-ranked Montevallo. Keshun Sherrill (West) had five assists for Augusta.
Davie’s girls won 54-11 against Lexington on Tuesday. K’lea Parks scored 18 points. Jessie Beck had eight points and six steals. Madison Bohannon had 10 points and five assists.
• Carson’s jayvee boys won 66-52 against Salisbury on Wednesday.
Bryson Collins scored 25 points for the Cougars (6-2).
Grayson Whicker scored 18 points for Carson, while Brenden Westbrook had 13.
West Rowan Middle won 60-29 against Corriher-Lipe.
Owen White scored 13 points for the Bulldogs (8-2). Caleb Mauldin had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cole Myers scored eight points, and Josiah Dixon had seven.
Connor Childers scored 11 points for the Yellow Jackets.
The next game for West is against Mooresville.
Salisbury Academy’s varsity girls split games in a tournament at Forsyth Country Day.
In a 42-28 loss to Winston-Salem Christian, Maria Capito scored 17 points, and Ellen Simons had six. Anna Louise Lewis and Emily Mann also contributed points. Ivy Overcash led in steals and rebounds.
Salisbury Academy scored 55 points in a win against Mt. Airy Millenium. Capito and Simons scored 11 points each. Lizzie Fisher and Anabel Barr scored eight each. Overcash and Lewis scored six each. Mann led the rebounding.
• Salisbury Academy’s jayvee girls lost to St. Mark’s. Madelynn Castor and Lila Harry led the Jaguars.
• Salisbury Academy’s jayvee boys lost to St. Mark’s. Charlie Barr scored 11 points, and George Fisher had 10. Hank Robins and Marshall Overcash also scored.
