SALISBURY — Food Lion’s parent company Delhaize America will close a Harveys distribution center in Green Cove Springs, Fla. and lay off 116 employees in February.
The warehouse, which serves Harveys stores in Florida and Georgia, will close following the sale of Harveys to Jacksonville-based Bi-Lo Holdings. Bi-Lo paid $265 million in cash to buy Harveys, Sweetbay and Reid’s from Delhaize Group, a Belgian company that owns several supermarket chains in the United States, including Food Lion.
Delhaize America and Food Lion are based in Salisbury.
