CLEVELAND — Heart of Sportsman, a small group that meets at Cornerstone Baptist Church, will host its third annual “Take a Stand to Fight Hunger” food drive Nov. 29 and 30.
During the drive, hunters donate their deer harvest.
The group will clean the deer and have them processed. All meat will be donated to local food pantries to feed those in need.
All those who donate will be entered in a chance to win a Bass Pro Shops gift card.
Deer harvests can be dropped off at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 200 Clearview Drive.

EAST SPENCER — New Life Community Church, 118 Heiligtown Road, will host an 88th birthday celebration for James “Pete” Sherrill at 6 p.m. today.
Elder Dwight Moore of Disciples of Christ Outreach Ministries of Charlotte will be the guest speaker.

SPENCER — There will be a Veteran’s Day program at 5 p.m. today at Rhema Praise and Worship Church, 117 Long Ferry Road.
The guest speaker will be Col. (Ret.) Dave Ulmer, a 35-year Army Special Forces veteran and who has dedicated his life to helping veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, at the corner of West Fulton and West Innes streets, will hold a special day of worship Sunday.
The focus of the day will be on how to achieve the unimaginable.
Worship in the sanctuary will be held at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
Life Center worship will be held in Lewis Hall is at 8:50 a.m.
A DVD of nine members sharing their own faith journeys will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday. Dessert will be served.
Cornerstone Church celebrates 27 years of ministry in Rowan County at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Special guests will be Bo and Valerie Baker from Dallas, Texas.
The Rev. Bo Baker is a lifelong friend of Pastor Bill Godair and traveled several years as an evangelist.
Since Godair and his family came to Salisbury 27 years ago, they have built Cornerstone Church as well as four Cornerstone Child Development Centers and The Event Center.
All are invited to celebrate with Cornerstone Church this weekend.
CHINA GROVE — During the 11 a.m. service Sunday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ, veterans will be honored during a time of remembrance and thanksgiving.
Following worship there will be a dinner in honor of veterans and serving military in the new building.
The Campbell Women’s Circle will host a “packing” party for Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoeboxes at 4 p.m.

STATESVILLE — The Levite Men of New Creation Baptist Church, 729 Glover St., will hold their annual men’s day program during the 11 a.m. service Sunday.
The speaker will be the Rev. Deon Anderson, an associate minister from God’s Tabernacle for Believers in Rockwell.

Sgt. Reginald Williams will be the guest speaker during a veterans appreciation service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Erwin Temple CME Church .
Williams served in the Army/National Guard for about 27 years and he deployed for two terms in Iraq.
He was employed with the Department of Mental Health for 28 years and worked in the school system for many years before retiring.
GRANITE QUARRY — The Salisbury-Rowan Pastor’s Aid Union service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church.
The Rev. Patrick Jones of New Lion and congregation are in charge of the service.
The annual holiday fellowship dinner is at 7 p.m. Monday at Antioch.

STATESVILLE — The Piedmont Singing Men will present a free Christmas concert at Covenant ARP, 120 N. Greenbriar Road, at 6 p.m. Sunday.
ENOCHVILLE — Enochville Church of God will be hosting a revival with The Blythes and Sister Rita starting at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Monday through Wednesday services will be held at 7 p.m.
This group of five are in their 22nd year of being on the road. They play many instruments there will be singing and preaching.

The 2013 Women’s Day theme is “Women Living by the Spirit and Keeping Step with the Spirit.”

EAST SPENCER — Providence Baptist Church, 620 Andrews St., will provide a free home-cooked meal for anyone from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 28.
We will also deliver to those who are shut in or do not have transportation.
The church also plans to have some jackets, coats and other clothes available for anyone who may need them.

The 22nd annual Living Christmas Tree will be presented by the First Baptist Church of Salisbury Living Christmas Tree choir, orchestra and drama team with services each night from Thursday, Dec. 5, through Monday, Dec. 9.
Tickets will be available to the community from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, 223 North Fulton St.
There is a limit of 10 tickets per household.
After Nov. 14, any remaining tickets will be available from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 10 a.m. to noon Friday in the music office.
