While some teachers across the state say they’re participating in a “walk-out” Monday to protest pay and conditions, West Rowan High School is asking the community to walk in.
The school sent out invitations last week.
“The purpose of this event is to show the community the outstanding work our educators are doing, but also to see first-hand the challenges they are facing inside the classroom,” West Rowan High counselor Allison Doby said.
Scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the event will include tours of the school and student speakers telling visitors about their experiences at West Rowan High.
Rita Foil, who is the public information officer for the Rowan-Salisbury School System, said the school “is being very aggressive in reaching out to the community. It’s great what they’re doing.”
Marian Thompson, head of the Rowan-Salisbury Association of Educators and a counselor at West Rowan Middle, said her school is also inviting the community to walk in Monday.
