GASTONIA (AP) — Construction and industrial-materials company Owens Corning plans to build a new building materials plant in North Carolina that’s scheduled to employ 110 workers in about three years.
Gov. Pat McCrory’s office said Tuesday the company plans to invest more than $120 million in a glass fiber factory in Gastonia expected to be ready in about a year.
Local business recruiters say the company could get property tax breaks and real estate worth more than $13 million. State officials said the project could get almost $2 million more in tax breaks and worker training if it meets hiring and investment targets.
Toledo, Ohio-based Owens Corning had sales of more than $5 billion in 2012 and employs 15,000 employees in 27 countries.
