The Downtown Salisbury Zombie Walk returns for its fourth year Friday during Downtown Salisbury Inc.’s OctoberTour Night Out.
Registration starts at 5 p.m. and the walk begins at 8 p.m. in front of Allied Finance, 231 S. Main St. Come early for a zombie makeover.
During the event, people can take a ride in the “The Last Ride Coffin Simulator” located in front of Dead Ed’s.
Carolina Coffin Cruisers, a hearse enthusiasts club, will have hearses on display. Plans are the have them parked directly in front of the staging area at Allied Finance.
Carolina Ghostbusters are coming with Ecto-1. Don’t miss the Kannapolis Rollergirls jamming their way through the crowd.
The Headless Horseman will ride through the area during the event.
The Rowan County Zombie Outbreak Response Team UNIT 12 will be on hand to inform the public and attempt to control the outbreak.
The walk is a dual fundraiser for The Humane Society of Rowan County and the food pantry. It is the kick off for a food drive at Dead Ed’s that will last throughout the holiday season.
The registration fee is $7. Bring one non-perishable food item and receive $1 off or bring two and receive $2 off.
Children ages 3 and younger can walk for free with a paid participant.
The zombie horde will be expected to gather around 7:45 p.m. for instructions from Digger the Zombie, leader of the horde.
After-party admission is included with registration.
The party will start about 9 p.m. at Uncle Buck’s All American Pub & Grub, 127 S. Main St., with a costume contest. It will be open to all ages until 10:30 p.m., after which time there may be language some parents may find inappropriate for children.
Master of Ceremonies for the after party will be Walt Brotherton, also known as Duki Stick the swagged out Root Doctor.
Three local and regional bands are lined up to play during the party: Body Bags will take the stage at 9:30 p.m., The Graveyard Boulevard will perform at 10:30 p.m. and October will round out the night with an 11:30 p.m. performance.
