Salisbury’s boys soccer team rolled to a 9-0 CCC win against East Davidson on Monday.
The Hornets, ranked No. 1 in the state in 2A, moved to 6-0 in the league and are 16-1 overall.
Bobby Cardelle and Landon Goodman scored two goals each. Emmy Turcios, Carlos Zanudo, Matt Washko, Clint Comadoll and Zack Sukkasem scored one apiece.
Nine different players had assists — Turcios, Cardelle, Goodman, Sukkasem, Comadoll, Luis Diaz, Philip Simons, Nick Greene and Michael Brown had assists.
Josh Lynch and Max Fisher combined for the shutout in goal.
• Salisbury’s jayvees won 8-1.

• Salisbury’s varsity won against North Rowan 9-0 last Wednesday in a match that coach Matt Parrish missed because he attended a funeral in Indiana. Parrish lost an aunt and an uncle in an accident. Salisbury administrators and parents coached the Hornets against North. Salisbury won 9-0.
It was the first match Parrish has missed in 13 seasons as an assistant and head coach. He even appeared at a Salisbury match the day his son was born.
Cardelle and Andrew Kalogeromitros had two goals each, while Turcios, Sukkasem, Comadoll, Fisher and Christian Uribe scored one apiece.
Kalogeromitros scored his first two varsity goals, while Fisher had his first of the season.
• Salisbury plays third-place Lexington on Wednesday at 7. Salisbury’s toughest CCC match to date was a 6-5 win at Lexington.
• Angel Dominguez had a hat trick for South Rowan in a 7-3 non-conference loss to Central Davidson on Monday.

The Central Carolina Conference held the first two rounds of the conference tournament on Monday in Lexington.
Advancing to the semifinals in singles were Salisbury’s Grace Steinman and Kathryn Rusher, North Rowan’s Victoria Scheve and West Davidson’s Olivia Varner.
Advancing to the semifinals in doubles were Salisbury’s Alexandra Drye-Madeline Hoskins and Kayla Honeycutt-Anna Flynn and Lexington’s Sydney Parker-Ashley Phillips and Emerson Hayes-Maggie Lancaster.
Semifinal matchups today are Varner vs. Steinman, Rusher vs. Scheve, Drye-Hoskins vs Parker-Phillips and Honeycutt-Flynn vs. Hayes-Lancaster.
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kayla Morrow (South Rowan) had four kills in a SAC loss to 14th-ranked Wingate on Saturday. With a hitting percentage of .361, Morrow ranks second in the SAC.
Appalachian State will open a 56-game regular season at Arkansas on Feb. 14-16, and then visits Tennessee and N.C. State and UNC.
ASU opens with 12 straight road games.
Catawba’s women are 14th in an 18-team field after Monday’s first round in the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
Madison Kennedy (Salisbury) shot 77 to lead the Indians. Leslie Long shot 80.
• UNC Greensboro leads the Wolfpack Intercollegiate after 36 holes. Roy Dixon (Salisbury) has shot 72-78 — 150 for the Spartans.
Livingstone linebacker Kenneth White Jr. has been named CIAA Linebacker of the Week.
White scooped a fumble and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown in Livingstone’s 32-25 loss to Virginia Union. White also made 14 tackles.
• SAC players of the week are Tusculum QB Bo Cordell, Tusculum DB LiRonta Archie and Newberry kicker Kyle Clark.
• UNC Pembroke stayed at No. 13 in the D-II football poll during an off week. UNCP plays at Catawba Oct. 19.
Salisbury’s Eric Edwards shot 70-75 — 145 and tied for fifth in the Tarheel Golf Foundation event at Grandover Resort in Greensboro.
• The McCanless Couples played a Captain’s Choice format on Sunday. The winning team was Walt and Kim Kincaid and Allen Drew.
The second-place team was Frank Foster and Gene and Mary Seaford. Mary Seaford had the longest putt.
Salisbury Academy won 3-2 in overtime against Hickory Christian on Senior Day.
Garrett Shermer, Jeremiah Whitaker and Mitch Jeter had goals, Emily Mann, Adam Drye, Ben Coulter, Sam Coombs and Marshall Overcash led the defense.
Knox’s girls won 7-2 against Southeast. Rachel Seifert, Bethanie Stauffer, Skye Mowery, Saleema Sabadaka and Maleah Corpening were singles winners.
Doubles winners were Seifert-Mowery and Stauffer-Sabadaka.
The local Green Dragons lost 6-3 in a regional match over the weekend.
Maddox Goodnight scored two goals for the Green Dragons (7-2), and Oscar Garcia had one. Wade Robins, Ben Childress and Ben Sweet were standouts.
