Grace Lutheran Church Men in Missions will hold its fifth annual fish fry fundraiser Oct. 12, starting at 5 p.m. Supplemental funds for the event provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Proceeds will benefit three local families that have children with serious medical needs. Over the past four years, the fish fry has raised more than $80,000.
Huston Bailey, 17, is the son of Kenneth and Heather Bailey. He was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and is confined to a wheelchair and is on oxygen.
Emily Hain, 18, is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Hain and has Chiari Malformation, a rare brain disorder that occurs when brain tissue protrudes into the spinal canal. Emily has had ten surgeries and suffers from daily headaches, short-term memory loss and balance issues.
Landen Spry is the infant son of Jolene and Stacy Spry. He was born in August 2012 with multiple medical issues. Doctors have constructed an esophagus for Landen and he has also undergone heart surgery. Landen has spent most of his life in a Boston hospital where one or both of his parents are with him constantly.
“The Lutheran Men in Missions see ourselves as the ‘hands of God’ and the fish fry is one of the ministries that allow us to help the community. We thank the community for their support in the past and look forward to a big event on Saturday,” said Dan Roseman, president of the Men in Missions.
Live music, dancing, corn hole toss, bounce house, basket raffles and an auction are also part of the event.
The church is located at 3020 Grace Church Road. Call 704-857-8641 for information.
