Area churches host revivials, special services this weekend

Mount Zion UC, 1415 South Main St., will be hosting an Interdenominational Women’s Event titled “Strength in Weakness” from 9 a.m. to noon today.
Child care will be provided.

The 11 a.m. Sunday service will include World Wide Communion. All youth fellowships will begin at 5 p.m.
The Main Street Mission Hunter Training will be at 5 p.m., beginning in the new building with a potluck meal.
SPENCER — The Pastor’s Aide Committee of Whosoever Will Let Them Come Ministries (WWLTC) will host a fundraiser food tasting at 4 p.m. today.
It will center on the role of food in the Bible with more than 32 homemade dishes to taste.
The requested donation is $10.
The menu includes ox tail stew, flavorful chicken drumettes, pig’s feet, barbecue dipped meatloaf, green beans, collard greens, homemade pork skins, chicken alfredo, ham, grilled pork shoulder and more.
Try red velvet rice krispy treats, sweet potato cupcakes, strawberry cheesecake bars, stewed apples, pound cake and a variety of other desserts.
The community is invited. The event will take place at the church’s Community Life Center, 601 S. Iredell St.
Cornerstone Church presents its Creative Arts program during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services Sunday.
The program will focus on the creative arts ministries of Cornerstone, which was established in 2004.
This Sunday will also be the launch of the Give Food/Give Thanks food drive that takes place through Oct. 26.
All proceeds will benefit Rowan Helping Ministries. There are several drop-off locations.
In celebration of homecoming at Southside Baptist Church, Brothers Redeemed will be in concert from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday.
Pastor Robin Albright, Southside’s new pastor, will bring the 11 a.m. message. Following the service is a cover dished meal in the fellowship hall.

CHINA GROVE — Pine Ridge Baptist Church, 880 Old Linn Road, will celebrate its 65th homecoming Sunday.
There will be no Sunday school.
Beginning at 10 a.m. special music will be presented by 4-Ever 4-Given from the Richfield area.
The members of 4-Ever 4-Given have been singing together for five years, after previously performing with other groups prior to bringing the family together.
The homecoming message will be given by Brother Todd Tucker.
A picnic lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. There will be no evening service.
Wednesday Bible study is at 7 p.m.

The guest pastor Dr. Braxton Hunter, a full time evangelist, is executive director of Trinity Crusades for Christ, which is a nationally known organization founded by his father, Dr. Harold Hunter, in 1991.

CONCORD — New Beginning Church of God, 5717 Alexander Road, will present a musical program at 3 p.m. Sunday with Word of Truth Church Choir of Kannapolis and the New Beginning Praise Team.
SPENCER — Revivals start Sunday at Central UMC, 204 Fourth St., beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Services will be held each day through Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
First Baptist Church of Salisbury will host a “Walk Thru The New Testament” live event from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The events unpack the big picture and the Bible in an exciting and energizing way that brings people together and ignites a passion for Bible reading and discipleship.
During the seminar, led by Dr. Richard Whittington, participants will walk where Jesus walked, relive the birth and growth of the early church, and travel with the apostle Paul as he shares the gospel with the world.
By the end of the event, those involved will creatively learn in chronological order 77 key people, places and events – without taking any notes.
Participants will discover what happened during the 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament. They will also gain insights and understanding of the events of the book of Acts, the beginning of the church and the missionary journeys of Paul.
The cost of the seminar and workbook is $19.

MOCKSVILLE — St. John AME Zion Church’s homecoming and revival begins with services at 3 p.m. Sunday with speaker the Rev. Milton A. Williams Jr., of Walls Memorial AME Zion Church.

The guest minister is Rev. Dr. Robert D. O’Keef, adjunct professor of United Methodist Studies at Hood Theological Seminary where he teaches Evangelism and United Methodist Polity.
O’Keef served as United Methodist minister for 40 years in eastern North Carolina, where he pastored three of the largest churches in the area.
In addition to his position at Hood Seminary, he is serving as pastor of Bailey’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Davie County.

STATESVILLE — Horizon Church will hosting the second annual Car & Bike Show in the church parking lot, 316 Signal Hill Drive, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
In addition to showcasing classic & muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles, this family-oriented event will feature a bouncy house for the kids, 50/50 drawing and other fun games.
A fire engine will be on display from 10 a.m. to noon courtesy of Statesville Fire Department.
Food, art and craft vendors will also be selling at the event.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Horizon Church’s efforts to purchase a passenger van for outreach.
The public is invited and admission is free however; everyone who attends is asked to bring canned goods or any non-perishable food items as a contribution to the Horizon Church Food Pantry Ministry.
