KANNAPOLIS — The R3 Center is offering numerous career development workshops and resume clinics in October for adults in Rowan and Cabarrus counties. All of the programs are provided free-of-charge.
R3 Career Services is a career development operation established by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to assist displaced workers, those who are unemployed or under-employed. R3 Career Services has three exciting new workshops this month:
• Meet the Employer – Oct. 22, 9:30 a.m. This workshop will feature a panel of local business and human resource representatives ready to advise you in your work search.
• Learning About Financial Aid – Oct. 22, 1 p.m. Applying for financial aid can be a confusing and difficult process. Join representatives from the Rowan-Cabarrus financial aid department and learn how to navigate the application process smoothly.
• Employer Spotlight – Oct. 29, 9:30 a.m. In the “Employer Spotlight” workshop, a guest employer will share information about his or her business, what he or she is looking for in potential employees and how to apply for available positions. In October, the guest employer is Western & Southern Life. Attend this workshop to learn more about their company and employment opportunities.
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Employability Lab is now available at R3 Career Services in Kannapolis. The lab will be open Monday through Thursday noon until 4 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.
“The Employability Lab is a great edition to R3, because our clients will be able to work with an instructor on tools they are learning in R3 workshops and their individual coaching sessions,” said Keri Allman, director of R3 Career Services. “In the lab, clients will also be able to work on a certification that helps recognize an individual’s current skill set called Career Readiness Certification.”
Each Wednesday in October, the R3 Career Services will have “R3 Clinics” available at the N.C.
